Like-minded allies must expand efforts on actions against #CCP's human rights abuses in #Xinjiang! Although joint sanctions from #US, #UK and #Canada had been announced in March 2021, they are far from enough, as #Beijing is still denying all accusations of abuse.

At the very least, all consumers deserve to know if the goods we're buying are made by slaves. This directly affects our lives and I for one would NOT want to unwittingly support the #Chinese regime by buying goods produced unethically!

Xinjiang: Joe Biden to urge G7 to act on China’s use of forced labour

The United States will urge its Group of Seven (G7) allies to increase pressure on China over the use of forced labour in its northwestern Xinjiang province, home to the Muslim Uygur minority, a top White House official said on Friday.

US President Joe Biden will attend a meeting of the G7 advanced economies in person in Britain in June, where he is expected to focus on what he sees as a strategic rivalry between democracies and autocratic states, particularly China.

TLDR: G7 is important because it allows countries to sit down and tackle problem. Expect China to go crazy and condemn others after this!

The 2021 G7 starts tomorrow! The 7 biggest democracies will be discussing the threat of China and many other issues in Cornwall.

The G7 was originally the G8, but the Russians were removed in 2014, after the annexation of the Crimea.

Boris Johnson is also planning to form the D-10 (10 democracies), this new organization will maintain a "rules-based democratic order" under the leadership of ten "leading democracies".

FYI Uyghur genocide will also be a topic of discussion. Let’s hope some concrete actions will be implement after this.

The #UK has repeatedly called out #China for violating the #SinoBritishJointDeclaration in the past, but we have yet to seen actions against #CCP for tearing up an international treaty. At the London June 12 rally yesterday, Labour MP Stephen Kinnock pointed out that for years the British govt has had a naïve and complacent attitude towards Communist China. Now that more seem to be waking up, it's time to ACT! Mere condemnations are not enough as the room for freedom in #HongKong is narrowing everyday as more and more innocent people go to jail! As #G7 concludes today on #Biden's note that the international community must respond to #CCP's aggression robustly, we urge the UK to lead its democratic allies to hold CCP accountable for breaking the international treaty!

#Beijing's response to #G7, comprising the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Canada, is that: "the world is not ruled by a small group". One of the most important takeaways: G7 believes that the WHO report published in March is not credible and was tampered with by #China. It's time for action.

China condemns G7 statement censuring Beijing, supporting Taiwan

China condemned on Thursday a joint statement by G7 foreign ministers that expressed support for Chinese-claimed Taiwan and cast Beijing as a bully, saying it was a gross interference in China’s internal affairs.

G7 foreign ministers said in a communique after a London summit that China was guilty of human rights abuses and of using “coercive economic policies”, which the G7 would use collective efforts to stop.

In an unusual step, the G7 also said they supported Taiwan's participation in World Health Organization forums and the World Health Assembly - and expressed concern about "any unilateral actions that could escalate tensions" in the Taiwan Strait.

"Our pursuit of defence and military modernisation is justified, reasonable, open and transparent' and asked Nato to stop "slandering China's peaceful development"

Britain should invite Taiwan to the G7 and Cop26

The UK is in the middle of its most important foreign policy pivot of this century, as it moves away from the EU and tries to carve out an independent place on the world stage. Ministers like to call this new vision “Global Britain”. And one of the most significant changes in strategic stance so far has been a shift of attention towards the Indo-Pacific region. If Britain wants to play a significant role in that area, it should get as close as possible to Taiwan.

China has accused the G7 of "political manipulation" after it criticised Beijing over a range of issues.

In a joint statement at the end of a three-day summit, leaders of the G7 countries urged China to "respect human rights and fundamental freedoms".

Issues highlighted included abuses against the Uyghur Muslim minority group and the crackdown on Hong Kong pro-democracy activists.

China's embassy in the UK accused the G7 of "baseless accusations".

"Stop slandering China, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, and stop harming China's interests," a spokesman said on Monday.

Switching from China's “One Belt One Road” to the United States' "B3W", Italian Foreign Minister: US is more important than China

United States stated in mid-June that it had established a global infrastructure plan called Build Back Better World (B3W), which compete with “One Belt One Road” from China. Italy, one of members from “One Belt One Road”, after joining B3W this year the Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio publicly indicated yesterday, although Italy and China have the trading and historical relationship, however this is absolutely not comparable.

Italy joined the “One Belt One Road” in 2019, is the first G& countries participate the project. According to Politico, Italy joined the project during the reign of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, the former government hoped to use this to attract Chinese investment to revitalize its economy that has stagnated for decades. According to Reuters, the United States has previously expressed concern about Italy joining the China-led “One Belt One Road” initiative.
