This time, #HKPolice & #HKGov has gone much further to undermine the #freedom in #HK. It wasn't just an attack on #FreedomOfPress but also not allowing people to know certain news.

They also gain their power, not letting 80 articles to be published. No 1 knows what they are about, how those articles threaten national security. With that said, journalists can be arrested anytime without publishing anything at all.

They accused the 5 executives staffs to be criminals but they claimed that they didn't know what they have committed yet. Yet, John Li, could still warn banks & other journalists not to interact with them.

For police searching for key words about #HKBeWater2021 was trying to threaten #HKers outside of HK & those who supports the movement. At first, it sounded like a joke that the #NSL has jurisdiction all over the world. Now, they are really showing it.

This is the first year since the handover of #HongKong's sovereignty without an annual July 1st protest march, we have prepared a summary of important 71 protests over the years. It is also a history of the decline of Hong Kong's #freedomofexpression.

Far reached #CCP influence that threatens the freedom of speech all over the world! Universities in #UK and #USA have been allowing students to hide their identity for some topics - which should be allowed to discuss freely! Now #Australia is following too ... such a shame for the countries that "protect" #freedom and #democracy!

In a Muffled Hong Kong, Bookstores Offer Freedom of Thought

When Hong Kong public libraries pulled books about dissent from circulation last month, Pong Yat Ming made an offer to his customers: They could read some of the same books, free, at his store.

Mr. Pong, 47, founded the shop, Book Punch, in 2020, after Beijing imposed a national security law in response to the antigovernment protests that rocked Hong Kong in 2019. The law broadly defined acts of subversion and secession against China, making much political speech potentially illegal, and it threatened severe punishment, including life imprisonment, for offenders.

Respect for #RaphaelWong. The #CCP condemns #HongKongers for taking to the streets, but never once consider that we had no way to get the govt to listen because we didn’t even have the #vote. And when demands fell to deaf ears when 2 million people marched, they have lost all legitimacy.

“Change is constant” - this is what the new head of health bureau said, when asked about the #HongKong govt’s plan to go back on their words and control #HKers’ movement on a sham Covid app. I guess that’s what they thought about “Fifty years unchanged” too. 🙃🙃

Concerns arise over Hong Kong's Article 23 law: ambiguity, freedom erosion, and expanded police powers. Life imprisonment for treason, up to 20 years for spying, and higher sentences for incitement. Critics fear press freedom restrictions and human rights implications.

Critics raise concerns about Hong Kong's Article 23 law: ambiguity, threats to freedom of expression, expanded police powers, erosion of civil liberties, and impact on autonomy. Lack of public consultation adds to worries. Safeguarding rights while addressing security is crucial.
