We would like to think that our modern society would help safeguard #humanrights. However,2021 has not been a glorious year for humanity. #CCP continues to enslave #Uyghurs, eliminates the original language of #mongolian, abuses #HKers freedom of speech and destroys #TheRuleOfLaw. Meanwhile, military coup in #Myanmar has turned the country into hell.
Worst of all, despite the lip service the free countries provided, #EU led by #German continues to make trade deals with #China.
#US continues to allow apps run by CCP owns corporates to steal personal data from their own citizens; letting CCP espionage disguise as Confucius Institute in its own universities to steal all the intellectual properties.
Giant tech monopolies all help #CCPChina to censor anything that mention about #humanrights, #freedom or #justice.
The #worldwiderallyforfreedom shows how angry people are. Let this protest be a start. More and more people will commit themselves to vote out those politicians who say one thing and act as another out and boycott those companies who do not fulfill their corporates duties.

Regina Ip was totally exposed with her twisted logic at the show #HardTalk last week. What the show wasn't able to cover was the rigged election that got her party seats in LegCo. Unfortunately, these are the political leaders that are currently leading #HK and #HKers have been suffering because of them for over 20 years.

Today, #HKGov announced a law to forbid people from promoting blank vote in the newly amended election. They claimed that blank vote would hurt the legitimacy of the lection. However, the logic behind this is to forbid #HKers to have any kind of method to protest. The amendment itself has already violated the basic law & breached the Sino-British Joint Declaration.
While already having the full control of the election, they also force citizens to agree with them by putting candidates they have already planned for. The other countries that have similar election are Norrth Korea & Iran.

This time, #HKPolice & #HKGov has gone much further to undermine the #freedom in #HK. It wasn't just an attack on #FreedomOfPress but also not allowing people to know certain news.
They also gain their power, not letting 80 articles to be published. No 1 knows what they are about, how those articles threaten national security. With that said, journalists can be arrested anytime without publishing anything at all.
They accused the 5 executives staffs to be criminals but they claimed that they didn't know what they have committed yet. Yet, John Li, could still warn banks & other journalists not to interact with them.
For police searching for key words about #HKBeWater2021 was trying to threaten #HKers outside of HK & those who supports the movement. At first, it sounded like a joke that the #NSL has jurisdiction all over the world. Now, they are really showing it.

#HongKong government makes sure #HKers have a good time on #CCP's centenary and the 24th year since #HK fell to the clutches of Commies by having police storm our malls, arrest our citizens and frighten our children and elderly. But even though protests are not taking the form we are familiar with, it doesn't mean they cease to exist.

Social media & the internet is our last line of defense. They are the last thing that separates #HongKong & #China. It's the last place where we, #HKers, can enjoy our freedom. Without them, people outside of #HK will not be able to know what happens to the people of HK. Similar to #Xinjiang, #CCP can build a re-education camp without anyone noticing it.

The China's anti-sanction law will put #HongKong back into a fishing village. Those officials are sanctioned by #US & #EU because they are responsible for freedom crackdown to #Uyghurs & #HKers. However, this law is obviously holding the whole city, the people, & everyone's assets as hostage.

Despite other countries urging #HKGov to open its border, they insist on "COVID ZERO" policy which highly affect the economy & citizens' daily lives. #CarrieLam insists that the policy will probably continue until Nov next year.

The effect of the policy is actually closing the HK's border, which keeps people from leaving or entering the city & turn #HK into a massive jail. The #BNO lifeboat scheme is expanded, thanks to the campaigning of #HongKongWatch. But this lifeboat will not be smooth sailing:
1) Reaching the #UK doesn't automatically guarantee safety, when #CCP is actively infiltrating the top levels of government. The scheme itself my be abused to infiltrate 🇬🇧 too.
2) Are the UK ready for #HongKongers? While the community is overwhelmingly supportive of freedom loving #HKers, there are also numerous opposing, especially as #Britain is facing a serious economic and energy crisis.

This is not a post recounting the details of the #UmbrellaRevolution so much as what it stood for and how it informed the #fightforfreedom in #HongKong. For years, #HKers had been struggling to defend our rights and values from the #CCP. The #UmbrellaMovement in 2014 was for many an awakening to the root cause of the social problems in #HK - the lack of a popularly mandated government as ours was (and is) but a #Beijing puppet.

The experience of 2014 produced the now much more mainstream indigenous ideology and inspired new protest tactics in 2019. Hong Kong has never stopped evolving to cope with challenges and does not intend to stop now. "Be water", the city-wide pro-democracy movement in 2019 taught us, even though it may be dark and the suffering ahead seem endless, don't lose heart. We will remember who we are, what we stand for, persevere and outlive the tyrant.
