美國副總統彭斯(Mike Pence)17日與土耳其總統艾爾段(Tayyip Erdogan)會談後表示，土耳其已同意於敘利亞東北部停火5天，讓庫德族民兵得以撤出。

經過4個多小時商談後，彭斯在記者會上指出，美國與土耳其同意在敘利亞停火。

彭斯17日稍早抵達安卡拉會晤艾爾段，敦促土耳其停止在跨越土、敘兩國邊境進行的和平之泉行動(Operation Peace Spring)。

安卡拉當局之前為了清除敘利亞境內的庫德族民兵團體人民保衛軍(YPG)，設置32公里寬的「安全地帶」。

彭斯說，土耳其將暫停和平之泉行動，以便人民保衛軍有120小時自安全地帶撤出。

他指出：「根據和平之泉行動進行的所有軍事行動將暫停，一旦庫德族民兵完成撤退，和平之泉行動將徹底終止。」
