#CUHK President Chosen for Times Higher Education Person of the Year
UK Times Higher Education named the head of Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Rocky Tuan as one of people of the year, being the only representative in Asia.
Compared to the inaction of other university heads in Hong Kong, Tuan was praised for going to the war-like campus of CUHK when it was besieged by the Hong Kong police in November. He had hoped to solve the confrontation in a civil way. Although the police fired tear gas grenades, Tuan was escorted away by protesters in the end.

In November 2019, #HongKong’s riot police besieged #CUHK, attacked it with teargas. Over 2,000 teargas shells were found on campus after two days of conflict. 2 years laters, students defending their campus and their lives were convicted of rioting. Every day we are given more examples of the death of #RuleofLaw in the city. The law a political tool bent by the #CCP at will to punish whoever refuse to kowtow.

Events in November 2019 took #HongKong on an emotional rollercoaster. This month had seen some of the bloodiest and most violent scenes of the pro-democracy movement, protesters turned desperate as #CCP's puppet government chose to completely neglect people's demands and the discipline of the police force completely fell apart. Attacks of not one but two universities astonished the world.
