Laying down white flowers outside Prince Edward station, on the 31st of every month, is no longer possible in #HongKong. Two years have passed since the #831PrinceEdwardAttack, so much has changed that we may as well be living in an alternate universe. But #HongKongers all over the world are showing that we have not forgotten how the #CCP literally beat us to death. Thank you overseas #HKers for carrying on the torch and do what is now forbidden in our own home.

In 2019, on the so-called "new #China's" 70th anniversary, #Chinese celebrations are placed side by side with CCP's brutal crackdown on #HongKong on international headlines, including the use of lethal weapon against a student.

This is not a post recounting the details of the #UmbrellaRevolution so much as what it stood for and how it informed the #fightforfreedom in #HongKong. For years, #HKers had been struggling to defend our rights and values from the #CCP. The #UmbrellaMovement in 2014 was for many an awakening to the root cause of the social problems in #HK - the lack of a popularly mandated government as ours was (and is) but a #Beijing puppet.

The experience of 2014 produced the now much more mainstream indigenous ideology and inspired new protest tactics in 2019. Hong Kong has never stopped evolving to cope with challenges and does not intend to stop now. "Be water", the city-wide pro-democracy movement in 2019 taught us, even though it may be dark and the suffering ahead seem endless, don't lose heart. We will remember who we are, what we stand for, persevere and outlive the tyrant.

Mismanagement has made #HongKong’s quarantine life a living hell. This is but one of many horrific incidents as the government tortures #HKers. Our dignity is not factored in public policies as the puppet govt blindly follows what #CCP decrees.

#HongKongers love our unique identity and culture, but there is a heavy political pressure from the #CCP to suppress and even eradicate it. Despite all this, there are still dedicated #HKers like Roy Chan who preserve and nurture it with their own philosophies. Maybe it is the worst of times, but maybe it is also the best of times for creatives.

“Change is constant” - this is what the new head of health bureau said, when asked about the #HongKong govt’s plan to go back on their words and control #HKers’ movement on a sham Covid app. I guess that’s what they thought about “Fifty years unchanged” too. 🙃🙃

The #BNO lifeboat scheme is expanded, thanks to the campaigning of #HongKongWatch. But this lifeboat will not be smooth sailing:
1) Reaching the #UK doesn't automatically guarantee safety, when #CCP is actively infiltrating the top levels of government. The scheme itself my be abused to infiltrate 🇬🇧 too.
2) Are the UK ready for #HongKongers? While the community is overwhelmingly supportive of freedom loving #HKers, there are also numerous opposing, especially as #Britain is facing a serious economic and energy crisis.
