PS. In recent years there were many debates around whether #HKers should commemorate #Tiananmen at all, since so many people do not see #China as their motherland, and we might have seen the last Tiananmen vigil in 2020. If that was the end of the HK vigils, then it has probably served its historical function of passing down the truth, and now it's up to us to keep reminding the world the blood on #CCP's hands. And when Hong Kong is liberated, perhaps we'll meet each other again in Victoria Park.

The recent crackdown on #AppleDaily, annual #Tiananmen vigil and July 1 march accelerates #HongKong’s fall as a financial centre. Free flow of information and room for creativity were what a financial centre, any centre, needs to prosper but #CCP is smothering both.

"What will happen to #HongKong after 1997" was the question on the minds of many #HongKongers, indeed many people all over the world, after seeing #CCP's massacre of #Tiananmen students in 1989. This year, #CCP's puppet govt in #HongKong closed off the Victoria Park one day ahead of June 4th, and claimed that whoever shows up at Victoria Park to commemorate #TiananmenMassacre, even if they go alone, will be considered to be participating in an illegal assembly. The annual candlelight vigil is something we are proud of, but banning it physically does not mean people forget the massacre and the trauma, we still remember. 🕯
