The crowd gathering in Sai Wai Ho kept growing and there were over a thousand at the scene. The protesters claimed” We cannot let the CUHK students sacrifice themselves in vain, there are many wounded in No.2 Bridge. This is the Hong Kong version of Tiananmen Square, everyone who came out here are with conscience, I hope everyone would not feel helpless and go home. Injuries in Chinese University of Hong Kong on Nov 12: Tear gas burnt holes in helmets and set backpack on fire

During the violent clashes at No. 2 Bridge of Chinese University on November 12, the police fired over 3000 rounds of tear gas, rubber and beanbag bullets, and deployed water cannon trucks to disperse the protestors.

Yet lots of students still remained at the bridge today (Nov 13) joined by some citizens. Mr. Chan, aged 23, said a lot of protestors were shot by the blue dye water cannon, by bullets, or scalded and burnt by tear gas canisters yesterday.

Since ambulances could not reach the university, they could only be treated at the sports ground on campus; some were brought to the hospital by good Samaritans. Student Chu, a fifth year student at CUHK, said the injured protestors mostly needed their eyes and wounds cleansed; some were hit by rubber bullets and were treated by Red Cross staff and doctors.

Chu said, the most serious case he saw was a protestor whose helmet has 4 holes burnt by tear gas canisters. The protestor was also injured by rubber bullets, bean bag bullets, and tear gas, and his backpack was also burnt. Fortunately, he had some gear to protect himself. Chu also said, a first aider was hit in the face by a tear gas round while treating others.

#WHO Facebook Page Censors #TaiwanCanHelp Comments

Hong Kong pro-democracy activist #JoshuaWong wrote on his Facebook page:

"I intended to comment #TaiwanCanHelp on WHO's Facebook to support Taiwan's inclusion in the World Health Assembly. However, my comment was censored and I am not allowed to post the text.

#Facebook spokeperson stated that page owners can manage their comments including censoring keywords to prevent it from appearing in the comment section.

It is believed that the page owner activated this function and banned keywords related to "Taiwan Can Help", making it impossible for people to comment.

Why does WHO have to set Taiwan as a sensitive keyword? Does it have the same effect of "Voldemort" in the Harry Potter series?

I believe the WHO has to explain this."

[Editor's Note: Netizens including those who wrote in Thai and Mongolian experienced the same problem.]

Screenings and Newspaper Advertisement, Threatens Students with Penalties

On the eve of the one-year mark of the siege of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Students (PolyU), the Students' Union (#PUSU) planned to hold the screenings of two documentaries, 'Save PolyU ' and 'Inside the Red Brick Wall' on November 17 and 18, 2020, in addition to publishing a statement on the front page of Apple Daily.

However, the university management stated in an email sent to the Students' Union on Nov 11, 2020 that the screenings and the newspaper advertisement were banned. If the students do not comply, the university authorities will impose a series of punishments including terminating their use and management rights of the students' union venues; the university will also stop collecting the students union's fee for them, among other disciplinary penalties.

The Students Union condemned the university's intervention, describing it as an act intending to 'wipe out the bloody scenes in our campus'. Regarding the use of venues and operation in the future, the Union will rearrange the screenings and post the statement via their social media instead.
