Hong Kong Citizen Went Missing After Crossing the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge

Zhuhai Public Security Bureau announced earlier this month that it would set up a security checkpoint in the eastern artificial island of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge (HZMB) to inspect people and vehicles visiting Macau and Zhuhai from Hong Kong.

According to I-Cable News, a man reported that his father went to Macau by the HZMB but was detained by mainland security. He left a voice message before losing contact. The man said "My dad told my mum by Whatsapp that there were a lot of public security here. It felt like war; many people and vehicles were asked to queue up for security check. In the last voice message, he said he was arrested."

The man went to the Macau Public Security Police Force to enquire about the incident. He said that the police were shocked when he made the report. They could not find the immigration record of his father; hence they were unable to file a case. The man had no choice but to report the case to the Hong Kong Police. There were also reports saying that the staff of HZMB Shuttle Bus reminded their passengers that the mainland security would inspect the bus.

Legislator James To Kun-sun said the temporary inspection by Chinese officials is unreasonable. He pointed out that even though the section of the bridge belonged to China, passengers heading to Macau, who have not left the bus should not be inspected by the Mainland officials.

According to a notice by the Zhuhai Police Burea dated on 9th Dec, they said that in order to maintain the transport order of the HZMB and create a pleasant social environment for the Macau SAR's 20th Anniversary, they will set up security checkpoint in the eastern artificial island of the HZMB from 10th to 22nd December. Inspections will be carried out on the vehicles and people visiting Macau and Zhuhai from Hong Kong. It reminds people should strictly follow the law of PRC and actively cooperate with the public security for the security check.

Australian Minister Urges People to buy local,
McDonald’s and Domino’s Use of Local Ingredients against China’s Trade War

As the Australia-China trade dispute is getting worse, an Australian minister said that the public could help local farmers by buying local ingredients and praised fast-food chains, such as McDonald’s and Domino’s Pizza, for displaying country of origin information on their websites and food packages. It allows consumers to understand how many ingredients are from Australia so that the public could support local products.

Australian Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said to the audience in a radio interview, “You have the power. We’ve given it to you.” He praised that displaying country of origin information could help customers purchase food made from local ingredients. “McDonald’s and Domino’s have joined the campaign. Once you enter the shop, they will disclose how much of their food are actually from Australia.”

Australia and China have started a trade war, in which China has imposed restrictions on Australian exports like beef, sugar, wine and barley. The trade war has hit Australian agricultural industries.

Hong Kong Authorities Ban Citizens from Displaying "Hong Kong Add Oil" on Outfits

The postponed Hong Kong Legislative Council elections will take place on December 19, 2021, despite the majority of the pro-democracy camp was detained or sentenced to jail.

On December 14, 2021, #BarnabasFung, the chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission (#EAC), said voters who have the words "Hong Kong Add Oil [Hang On]" on their outfit might be asked to cover them.

On a side note, staff at polling stations are not allowed to wear, in particular, yellow facemasks.
