Follow from previous post about hostage diplomacy — another example of how CCP China imprison citizens from other countries WITHOUT GOOD CAUSES.

Foreign diplomats, including the charge d'affaires of the Canadian embassy in China, were denied entry to the “transparent” trial; which was a BREACH OF INTERNATIONAL LAW.

Both US and Canada are “deeply concerned” and say it’s “unacceptable”.

‘They are in no hurry’: Beijing plays the long game as Canadians languish in China’s prisons

The “Two Michaels,” Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, have garnered international attention. Their arrests in December 2018 were widely seen as retaliation for the arrest of Chinese telecom executive Meng Wanzhou by the RCMP in Vancouver at the behest of the United States.

But when Kamila Telendibaeva hears the Michaels’ names mentioned repeatedly by political leaders and journalists, she has mixed emotions.

“I feel sorry for the Michaels, I feel really sorry,” she says. “But when I hear the Michaels’ case, I always think: ‘Where’s Huseyin’s case? Why they don’t want to bring it up? Why they don’t want to raise it?’ It hurts. He’s a Canadian.”

Sloppy or trolling? Canadian spy agency welcomes release of ‘not spies’ from China in exchange for Huawei exec’s freedom

“Welcome home, #Michaels. CSIS joins all Canadians in welcoming you back to Canada,” the country’s Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) tweeted on Friday in English and French, hours after an exchange of detainees between Ottawa and Beijing was announced.

'Frosty' economic times with China likely to continue despite release of two Michaels

Relations between Ottawa and Beijing are not likely to warm up anytime soon despite the release of the two Michaels, reinforcing the need for Canada to pursue a revamped Asian economic strategy, some China-watchers said Monday.

On Saturday, Canadian businessman Michael Spavor and diplomat Michael Kovrig arrived back in the country after Chinese authorities had detained them for more than 1,000 days. Their detention followed and was widely seen as a response to a U.S. extradition request for Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. executive Meng Wanzhou, who was arrested in Vancouver in December 2018.
