Xi says progress made in talks with Blinken
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with President Xi Jinping on Monday as he wrapped up a two-day high-stakes visit to Beijing aimed at easing soaring tensions between the countries. The meeting at the Great Hall of the People had been expected and was seen as key to the success of the trip, but neither side confirmed it would happen until just beforehand. In footage of the meeting released by state broadcaster CCTV, Xi is heard to say “The two sides have agreed to follow through on the common understandings President Biden and I have reached in Bali.”In earlier meetings between Blinken and senior Chinese officials, the two sides expressed willingness to talk but showed little inclination to bend from hardened positions on disagreements ranging from trade, to Taiwan, to human rights, to Russia’s war in Ukraine.Xi said that the two sides had made progress and reached agreements on “some specific issues” without elaborating. “This is very good,” Xi said.“I hope that through this visit, Mr Secretary, you will make more positive contributions to stabilising China-US relations,” Xi added.Blinken is the highest-level US official to visit China since President Biden took office, and the first secretary of state to make the trip in five years. His visit is expected to usher in a new round of visits by senior US and Chinese officials, possibly including a meeting between Xi and Biden in the coming months.Blinken met earlier Monday with China’s top diplomat Wang Yi for about three hours, according to a US official. He also held more than seven hours of "candid" and "constructive" talks with Foreign Minister Qin Gang on Sunday.China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a statement that Blinken's visit "coincides with a critical juncture in China-US relations, and it is necessary to make a choice between dialogue or confrontation, cooperation or conflict,” and blamed the “US side’s erroneous perception of China, leading to incorrect policies towards China” for the current “low point” in relations. It said the US had a responsibility to halt “the spiraling decline of China-US relations to push it back to a healthy and stable track” and that Wang had "demanded that the US stop hyping up the ‘China threat theory’, lift illegal unilateral sanctions against China, abandon suppression of China’s technological development, and refrain from arbitrary interference in China’s internal affairs.” (Agencies)

— "China is using a recent visit by an Arab League delegation to Xinjiang to highlight what it says is support of its policies in the region.
Experts, however, say the praise that Beijing has reportedly received from diplomats and officials who took part in the trip is nothing more than "Chinese propaganda" and an attempt to whitewash human rights violations there.
China’s treatment of Uyghur and other Muslim minorities in Xinjiang is a major source of international concern. Western countries have raised allegations of forced labor, religious persecution and some, including the United States, have classified what is happening in Xinjiang as genocide, an accusation Beijing denies."

— "The delegation from the Arab League, after wrapping up a visit to Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said that allegations of "ethnic genocide" and "religious persecution" are completely false, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated on Monday.
Arab countries appreciate China's efforts in caring for minority groups, including Muslims in Xinjiang, and they will continue to support China's endeavors in maintaining the development and stability of Xinjiang.
After attending the 18th senior diplomats and officials' meeting and the 7th senior official-level strategic political dialogue of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, the 34-member group from 16 Arab countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Algeria visited Xinjiang between May 30 to June 2."

— "The East Turkistan Government in Exile (ETGE) strongly condemns the recent strategic partnership between Palestine and China, which shamelessly supports China’s ongoing colonization, genocide, and occupation campaign in East Turkistan.
The joint statement between the People’s Republic of China and the State of Palestine on establishing a Strategic Partnership reiterated China’s false narrative that the “Xinjiang [East Turkistan] related issue is not a human rights issue at all, but an issue of counter-terrorism, de-radicalization, and anti-separatism,” and that the “Palestine side firmly opposes interference in China’s internal affairs under the pretexts of Xinjiang [East Turkistan]-related issue.”
It is a grotesque distortion of reality to refer to the ongoing Sino-East Turkistan conflict as a matter of “Chinese internal affairs.” This distorted narrative not only aids Chinese imperialism but also ignores the unspeakable atrocities endured by the Uyghur, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and other Turkic people in Occupied East Turkistan.
The East Turkistani people are subject to unrelenting atrocities, such as genocide, systemic racism, and persecution."
