University of London Promotes Anonymous Comments with no Lessons Recording due to National Security Law
The Times reported that the alma mater of the former Governors of Hong Kong, Edward Youde and David Wilson, and other celebrities, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in the University of London, asked scholars not to record lessons due to the National Security Law. SOAS said that class discussions and teaching materials might be regarded as illegal evidence and requested scholars to teach pupils to publish anonymous comments in the lessons to avoid teachers and students from arrest when visiting Hong Kong. SOAS also pointed out that some core topics in social science and humanities might be prohibited; discussions on Hong Kong, Taiwan, social movement, CCP's anti-epidemic, etc., might be regarded as criminal.
SOAS is reported to issue guidelines for the scholars, requesting not to record the lessons and discussions, which might be regarded as evidence of the violation of National Security Law. Scholars bring relevant notes and laptop to China might face long term imprisonment.
