Mongolians are resisting cultural oppression, an increasingly common strategy to deal with minorities from the CCP. This is already faced by Tibetans and Uyghurs. Hong Kongers, as another 'troublesome' minority group, is likely to be the next target of cultural oppression.

TLDR: Because of #TiananmenMassacre, #HongKong has never fully trusted #CCP, fearing that the promise of #democracy will never be realized and our way of life and #freedom will be crushed in the most brutal way. The violent crackdown of 2019's democratic movement and the arbitrary imposition of #nationalsecuritylaw are pretty much our worst nightmare come true.

While an older generation of #HongKongers commemorated #Tiananmen because they felt that those in #Beijing were kin, a young generation of #HKers, many born after 1989, have different reasons to remember the massacre. Instead of feeling bonded by blood to the #Chinese protesters, many "pass down the torch" of June 4th because they believe that history must be preserved, and they recognized that protesters on Tiananmen Square were fighting against the same oppressor, for the same goals - democracy.

[...] #HKers to be "patriotic", shouldn't they be glad to see so many people caring so deeply about social and political movements in #China? The way they try to censor us only shows that they want absolute, unquestioning, blind loyalty for the party, which shamelessly conflates itself with the "country". This year, commemorative events all around the world will show #CCP that it cannot distort history, however many surveillance cameras it installs and tanks and missiles it has.

#PRC's national day is no cause for celebration for #HongKongers. After all the #CCP-sanctioned police brutality and sexual abuse, #HongKong has completely lost respect and hope for this tyrant. In 2019, on the so-called "new #China's" 70th anniversary, #Chinese celebrations are placed side by side with CCP's brutal crackdown on #HongKong on international headlines, including the use of lethal weapon against a student.
