Whoa! Suddenly, #PengShuai is showing up everywhere, doing video calls, attending dinners, giving out prizes, all according to #CCP sources anyways. She “doesn’t want to talk to foreign media” though, says the state media.

Swedish Website Publishes #PoliticalCartoon, Mocking the "Unsportsmanlike behaviour by Beijing"

A satirical cartoon drawn by artist Niklas "Kludd-Niklas" Eriksson was published on a Swedish website Kinamedia.

The cartoon goes with the title "Unsportsmanlike behaviour by Beijing," referring to how the Chinese Community Party (#CCP) deployed different means to silence the country's own top tennis athlete #PangShuai.

As one of the most well-known female tennis player from China, Pang in early November 2021 disclosed on social media that CCP's former Vice Premier #ZhangGaoli had coerced her into sex at his home, in the presence of his wife. The social media post was soon removed and Pang has not been seen in public since then.

During a wild internet hunt for the safety of #PengShuai, a Chinese tennis player who accused an official in the Chinese Communist Party of rape, the evidence presented by the state media fumbles as bad lies. Now, the international community is calling to boycott or cancel #Beijing2022. How did a case of #MeToo in China turn global and threaten the CCP’s legitimacy to host the Olympics?

According to #CCP’s mouthpiece, #PengShuai has spoken again, to accuse #WTA of being unfair in its decision to stop all programmes in #China. We just want to ask, WHY CAN’T SHE SPEAK DIRECTLY TO US? She does not need an owl messenger!

Women's Tennis Association suspends all tournaments in China amid concern for female tennis player #PengShuai

Chinese female tennis player Peng Shuai, aged 35, disappeared from public view for three weeks after accusing Chinese former Vice-Premier #ZhangGaoli of sexual assault.

#WTA chief Steve Simon said he had "serious doubts" that Peng was "free, safe and not subject to intimidation".

"In good conscience, I don't see how I can ask our athletes to compete there," he said.

News of the WTA suspending tournaments in China has been removed from the internet in the country, although the WTA's account on Chinese social media site Weibo is still available.

The T-shirt ban has been reversed after fierce criticism from human rights groups, the international tennis community, and one of the tennis all-time greats, Navratilova, who criticized the decision as "pathetic".

However, this shows again (and again) how sports event organisers bow to pressure from major Chinese corporate sponsors.

Just glad that Tennis Australia listened this time around.
