China: Measures Taken Against Foreign Imports Beyond Reproach, Urges Australia to Reflect on Itself
It was reported that China has stopped buying a series of Australian products. In Beijing, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated that the Chinese authorities have carried out legitimate measures on foreign imports, that they were in accordance with Chinese laws and regulations and international practices and that they were responsible measures in the interest of China’s state enterprises and consumers. He emphasised that the practice was reasonable, legal and beyond reproach.
Wang said that China has repeatedly urged Australia to reflect on itself and do more on things that benefit the mutual trust and cooperation between China and Australia and honour the spirit of comprehensive strategic partnership between them. It urged Australia to create good conditions and atmosphere for practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
He also said that since 2018, more than 10 investment projects from China have been rejected by Australia on account of groundless national security reasons, these rejections included the barring of Chinese companies from participating in Australia’s 5G network and infrastructure. Australia has also carried out 106 anti-dumping investigations on China, while China has only initiated 4 investigations on Australia. He questioned who it was that violated the principles of the market economy and the spirit of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), and opined that the facts were very clear.

Chinese Foreign Ministry says Pompeo has "Sinister Motives" and Will Fight Back Firmly after Pompeo says Taiwan Is Not Part of China,
In a radio interview yesterday (12th), the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said "Taiwan has never been a part of China" and that the US commitment to Taiwan was already a cross-party consensus. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular press conference today (13th) that Pompeo had ignored the fundamental interests of the Chinese and American peoples for his political self-interest, confusing right with wrong and fabricating lies in order to mislead public opinion and disrupt the public perceptions, further damage China-US relations and jeopardise peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. He added, "The world has known his sinister intentions". Wang Wenbin told the followers of Pompeo that any act that undermines the core interests of China and interferes in Chinese internal affairs will get a resolute response from China, and will not stop its historical trend of unification.
Taiwan's presidential spokesman, Chang Tun-Han, also responded to the incident this morning (13 November), noting that he had noticed the remarks from Pompeo and that it was an indisputable fact that the Republic of China is a sovereign state. On the cross-strait and region, Taiwan has always advocated that the two sides of the Strait should work together to safeguard the status quo of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, based on the principle of reciprocity and dignity. Taiwan will also continue to fulfil its international obligations and contribute to the peace, stability and prosperity of the Taiwan Strait and the region.

U.S. Navy Condemns China on its Lack of Integrity after China's Absent in the Military Meeting
The U.S.-China relations continue to deteriorate. Senior military officials of the two countries originally scheduled a video conference on Military Maritime Consultative Agreement (MMCA) this week. However, China was absent unexpectedly for no reason. The U.S. criticised its absence as a reflection of its lack of integrity. Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs counter-accuse the U.S. for the meeting's failure.
The meeting was scheduled for Dec 14-16 in a video conference format, but the absence of PLA representatives did not attend. The U.S. representatives Phil Davidson, the General of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, criticised the PLA as "another non-compliant example from China". At the same time, they also "remind all nations that they may pursue agreements with China in the future".
The U.S. military said that China and the U.S. have held a regular meeting since 1998 to conduct the MMCA dialogue. This year's talk was expected to address China's recent military actions in the South China Sea, but the Chinese representatives were absent without reason. General Davidson emphasised that the U.S. will strive to safeguard the MMCA and called on the PLA to hold the MMCA dialogue under the framework of MMCA.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin stated at a regular press conference on Thursday that "it is to our understanding that the responsibility of the failure in holding meetings regarding maritime safety lies solely in the hands of the U.S. The U.S. military's accusations are completely untenable and irresponsible." He prompted reporters to enquire with the Chinese Ministry of Defence.

Reuters: China puts pressure multinational firms to break ties with Lithuania or be driven out of China market
The relationship between China and Lithuania is still poor. Chinese customs recently removed Lithuania from its list of "countries of origin", making it impossible for Lithuanian goods to enter China, and Lithuania's foreign minister asked the European Union to intervene with China.
The Reuters news agency on Thursday (9 December) quoted Lithuania's deputy foreign minister and representatives of local industry that China had asked a number of multinational companies to cut ties with Lithuania or else drive them out of the Chinese market.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin responded on Thursday that he did not understand the situation reported by Reuters, but stressed that China has always acted in accordance with WTO rules, criticizing "Lithuania's betrayal of trust and justice, blatantly violating the political promises made to China when the two countries established diplomatic relations, creating ‘one China, one Taiwan’ in the world and seriously undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity", and that China is determined to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Reuters quoted Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Mantas Adomėnas as saying that China is putting pressure on multinational companies, saying that if they use Lithuanian-made components and goods, they can no longer sell in the Chinese market or get supplies in China, and some companies have already cancelled contracts with Lithuanian suppliers.
