The end came as a bitter finale to a decades-long tale of intrigue and tragedy.
High up in the mountains straddling the border between Cameroon and the Republic of Congo, Perth-based mining minnow Sundance Resources saw its future extinguished amidst accusations of deceit and corruption.

After more than six months of wrangling and threats of legal action with the Congo government, Sundance boss Giulio Casello discovered to his horror that his former partner, an Australian-domiciled company with Chinese government links, had snared his company's major asset.

Working in tandem with another Beijing-linked group, it had snared the rights to develop one of west Africa's most promising iron ore deposits, the Mbalam-Nabeba project which has been Sundance's main focus for more than 15 years.

6 Chinese-funded Companies Involved in Illegal Mining in the Republic of Congo, Beijing ordered to Evacuate

The government of Sud-Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa ordered 9 mining companies to suspend operations earlier, involving 6 Chinese-funded companies. The reason is that those companies have illegally mined and caused environmental pollution. The violated Chinese companies ignored the issues and continued their operations, causing the local citizens to protest in mining areas last month. The police, therefore, used tear gases for dispersing. Beijing government requested the relevant companies to stop operating and leave the place.

Wu Peng, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, indicated that they have already finished the investigation on the incident. He ordered those companies to respect the local government - stop the operation and leave Sud-Kivu as soon as possible. Wu has also stated that those companies will be punished. “We would not allow Chinese companies to violate local laws.” “We support the Democratic Republic of Congo to buffet illegal economic activities”. South China Morning Post described it is very rare for Beijing to stop overseas companies’ operations. At the same time, the local government requested a review of China’s large-scale local project contracts.

International public opinion denounces Africa to fall into a debt trap; China’s financial commitments to Africa have fallen for the first time in 12 years 
 
According to Bloomberg, after international public opinion criticized China for causing African and other developing countries to bear huge debts, China’s fiscal commitment to Africa fell for the first time in more than a decade.  
 
Xi Jinping, President of China, attended the 8th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation via video. He announced that China will provide 1 billion vaccines, and also mentioned about financial commitments to Africa under the first three-year plan of “China-Africa Cooperation Vision 2035”. This include providing US$10 billion trade finance line; promoting total investment of Chinese enterprises in Africa to be not less than US$10 billion in the next three years; providing US$10 billion line of credit to African financial institutions; there will be US$10 billion of additional special drawing rights issued by International Monetary Fund, allocated to Africa, which will be $40 billion in total. In addition to financial commitments, Xi also proposed to establish a “green channel” for African agricultural products, hoping to import a total of US$300 billion from Africa in the next three years.  
 
The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation is held every three years. Bloomberg said, China’s financial commitments to Africa in 2018 forum was US$60 billion, which has been decreased by 33 per cent. And during 2016-2018, China’s financial commitments to Africa doubles every three years. In another words, this was the first decline in financial commitments to Africa in 12 years.

In February 2020 a shocking video began to circulate on Chinese social media. A group of African children are being instructed, by a voice off-camera, to chant phrases in Chinese. The kids repeat the words with smiles and enthusiasm — but they don't understand that what they're being told to say is " I am a black monster and my IQ is low."

The clip ignited outrage in China and beyond. But no-one ever answered some crucial questions: why was this filmed? Where was it shot? Who made it?

Chinese man held over #racist videos and claims his aims to spread Chinese culture

A Chinese filmmaker wanted by Malawi as part of an investigation into allegations of racism and child exploitation has been arrested.

#LuKe was a #Malawi resident when he was exposed by #BBC #AfricaEye, which reported he had used local children to film personalised greetings videos, some of which included racist content.

These videos can be bought for up to $70 (£55) on Chinese social media and internet platforms.

Lu Ke denied making derogatory videos.

He said he made his videos in order to spread Chinese culture to the local community.
In one of the videos seen by the BBC, a group of young children is made to chant - in Chinese - "I'm a black monster. My IQ is low", clearly unaware of what they are saying.//
