TLDR: Japan's increasing its defence system near Taiwan
A little bit of old news, but #Japan has vowed to protect #Taiwan, because its security has a direct impact on the security of Japan!

These missiles are largely surface to ship and ground to air, and will be active during the initial response phase in the incident of a major armed attack.

An electronic warfare unit is also planned to be deployed on Yonagunijima Island, another island in close proximity to Taiwan and China, by the end of 2023, creating a band of new bases in the Pacific Ocean, together with new bases on Mageshima island.

Recently (1/Sep), Taiwan has admitted that China can 'paralyse' its defences, though the report said China still lacked the capability to launch a full assault.
Hopefully this would help deter China!

China threatens Australia with missile attack
In the face of an increasing torrent of abuse from Beijing, Canberra should seek a much clearer commitment from Washington that its United States ally will retaliate if China launches a missile attack against Australia.
As far as Australia is concerned, the growing torrent of threats and bullying from Beijing mean that we need to have a much clearer understanding from our American ally about extended deterrence—not just nuclear deterrence but also conventional deterrence against Chinese long-range theatre missiles with conventional warheads.
