Australia Seeks UN Probe Into New China Uighur Abuse Claims
Australia has called for a United Nations investigation into allegations of human rights abuses in China’s Xinjiang region. In the statement, Australia also urged China to allow international observers, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, to be given immediate and unfettered access to Xinjiang
Former detainees and a guard said they experienced or witnessed systematic rape and torture inside China’s so-called re-education camps where the UN says anywhere from tens of thousands to “upwards of 1 million” Uighurs have been detained.

Guyana calls off plan for Taiwan ties after Beijing criticizes 'mistake'
Guyana, which has traditionally had close ties with China, abruptly terminated an agreement with Taiwan to open an office in the South American country, hours after China urged Georgetown to “correct their mistake”.
“The government has not established any diplomatic ties or relations with Taiwan, and as a result of the miscommunication of the agreement signed, this agreement has since been terminated,” Guyana’s statement read.
The US worries about deepening Chinese influence in Latin America. Guyana, a former British colony, recently begun developing offshore oil reserves and is strategically located next to strife-torn Venezuela, a major Chinese ally with which Guyana has a territorial dispute.
Taiwan only has formal diplomatic relations with 14 countries, including four Caribbean nations.

UK Revokes a China's Media CGTN Broadcasting license and Beijing Rebuts BBC as "Fake News”
China Global Television Network (CGTN), a subsidiary of China’s state-owned China Central Television, has been repeatedly questioned as biased. The Office of Communications (Ofcom) in the UK announced to revoke the local broadcasting license of CGTN today. On the other hand, the Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry criticized a BBC report from last month as fake news linking politics to the pandemic and asked for apologies.
Ofcom confirmed on Thursday after the investigation that Star China Media owned the broadcasting license of CGTN. However, this company has no right to control the editorial content of this station. Therefore, it does not meet the legal requirements for the license.
CGTN once requested to transfer the broadcasting license to a company called China Global Television Network Corporation. However, as the “important information” for the application is missing and the company are ultimately controlled by CCP, Ofcom refused the request for license transfer. Ofcom emphasized that they have already given enough chance to CGTN, but they still failed to comply with the law, so they decided to revoke its license.

Canadian and Taiwanese Artists Uses Music and Drawings to Show their Support on Human Rights
#BeijingWinterOlympics has begun since #Feb04 with boycotts voices circulating the world.
Some artists show their dissatisfaction with #HumanRightsViolation in China with paintbrushes and music notes. A Canadian painter creates "Genocide Games" to mock Beijing Winter Olympic while a Taiwanese band composes "The Times Looking After the Righteous (#時代看顧正義的人)" to criticise dictatorship.
Both works show support to the belief in democracy and freedom.
The Canadian artist, Ricker Choi, is originally from Hong Kong but emigrated to Canada when he was 13. Yet, he is always concerning the situation in Hong Kong. Ricker has created lots of artworks since 2019, supporting Hong Kong democracy movements.
When the winter Olympics was approaching, his heart was filled with emotions. As a result, he picked up his pen and produced a picture "#GenocideGames".
Ricker said, "China claimed to improve the human rights issues in 2008 #OlympicGames, to be free, democratic and open. In fact, the reality is, however, the opposite. They suppress #Uyghurs and #Tibetans, persecuting Hong Kong, threatening Taiwan. Letting them host the Olympic Games again is the greatest sarcasm."
