美國傳統基金會今日 (4 日）發表的年度經濟自由度指數，有份協辦的《華爾街日報》預告，香港首次被剔出評級，原因是近年政策明顯受北京控制，基金會因此將香港、澳門同樣視為中國其中一個城市，不再獨立為香港、澳門評級。

香港與中國一同被評分，中國被評為「大部分不自由」的經濟體，排第 107 位，自由度評分遠落後於 23 與 24 位的日本和南韓兩個亞洲領先國家，低於泰國、越南與菲律賓等發展中東南亞國家
