《南華早報》日前引述消息，指中央正考慮禁止英國國民（海外）護照（#BNO）持有人擔任公職。眾新聞向警務處查詢，現時警隊一眾高級官員和國安處人員，有否擁有BNO、外國護照和外國居留權，警務處回覆指涉及個人資料，不會公開。警務處亦拒絕透露，主要負責國安法案件的國安處有否規定內部人員不能擁有外國護照和居留權。

#眾新聞 亦向廉政公署查詢，其高級人員有否擁有BNO、外國護照和外國居留權，廉署同樣以涉及個人資料為由，拒絕透露。

警務處及廉署也重申除了在《基本法》第101條的例外情況，《#基本法》並無對公務員的國籍或所持有的護照訂明要求。
