Two years ago, #CCP showed us that they have no qualms about cracking down on #HK with violence. We will never forget and never forgive, they must be held accountable. In today's rallies and marches, we made sure history is remembered by holding viewings, photo exhibition and putting up Lennon Walls to tell the world about #CCP's brutality and learn about what happened in Hong Kong between June 2019-2020. We also connected with friends from #Tibet and #EastTurkestan who are oppressed by the same tyrant and marched to show our determination.

- What happened? -
The attack occurred Thursday (July 1) as the CCP celebrated its 100th anniversary. 50-year-old Leung Gin-fai (梁健輝) stab a police officer and then kill himself by thrusting the knife into his own chest.

Police later released a statement calling the assault a "lone wolf terrorist attack" and condemned support for Leung.

When people went to the scene of the attack and tried to lay down flowers, they were searched and ticketed.

Can’t they just let people mourn, and idk, show some respect??

There’s no logic in Hong Kong Police Force’s actions. They smeared the victims as the guilty party. The first person convicted in relation to 721 is #ChoyYukling, a journalist who made a documentary uncovering the truth about the attackers. Now #LamCheukting is charged for rioting.

There's been a lot of talk (and action) of leaving #HongKong lately, we have seen photo after photo of coiling queues at the #HongKong airport check-in desk and teary goodbyes at the departure hall. U, a protester who is now serving prison terms for fighting for the future of Hong Kong, has something to say to both those who decided to leave, and those who decided to stay.

The "Hong Kong Way " was a striking spectacle, and we had the idea from Baltic states #Lithunia 🇱🇹, #Estonia 🇪🇪 and #Latvia 🇱🇻. Lithuanians, Estonians and Latvians' resolve and perseverance is an inspiration to all of us fighting for freedom and refusing to bow down to tyranny. They also remind us that we're fighting against #CCP in the long haul, and not to give up despite setbacks in battle after battle. In a few months, we have lost #AppleDaily, #HKPTU and #CHRF, no doubt more crackdowns are to come. But we have NOT lost our beliefs!

This is not a post recounting the details of the #UmbrellaRevolution so much as what it stood for and how it informed the #fightforfreedom in #HongKong. For years, #HKers had been struggling to defend our rights and values from the #CCP. The #UmbrellaMovement in 2014 was for many an awakening to the root cause of the social problems in #HK - the lack of a popularly mandated government as ours was (and is) but a #Beijing puppet.

The experience of 2014 produced the now much more mainstream indigenous ideology and inspired new protest tactics in 2019. Hong Kong has never stopped evolving to cope with challenges and does not intend to stop now. "Be water", the city-wide pro-democracy movement in 2019 taught us, even though it may be dark and the suffering ahead seem endless, don't lose heart. We will remember who we are, what we stand for, persevere and outlive the tyrant.
