根據報道，香港編年史用Cloudflare去做網絡保安（例如DDoS protection），於是用戶去香港編年史網站時，實際上會先經過Cloudflare喺香港嘅中轉server，喺嗰度探測完認為呢個流量對網站冇潛在威脅之後，先至再forward比網站嘅原始server。
而Cloudflare會不定時轉唔同網站嘅中轉server，姐係有機會隨時連IP都又轉咗第二個。
而且Cloudflare嘅每個中轉server都會同時服務其他亦都有用Cloudflare嘅大小中港海外網站。所以如果直接封鎖Cloudflare嘅中轉server IP，就相等於封鎖晒其他大小中港海外網站，間接叫呢間於2014年比親中傳媒話同美國中情局有關係嘅Cloudflare退出香港市場。
