HKB founder Simon Cheng, together with Bob Seely MP and Lord Ricketts, had joined BBC Newsnight to discuss UK-China relations following Foreign Secretary James Cleverly's visit to Beijing. Simon Cheng emphasised that the Chinese ruling class that British officials contacted may not represent the interests of the general public. Even if the British government justifies such engagement with China due to it's size and status, we should not fuel the arrogance of autocracy to believe suppressing rights and expanding its power could meet less and even no diplomatic consequences.
