US report intimidates Hong Kong prosecutors: govt
The government on Wednesday condemned a US report, saying it is spreading misinformation and attempting to intimidate prosecutors in Hong Kong. In a statement released on Wednesday, a government spokesperson said the Congressional-Executive Commission on China’s report was “trampling on legal justice” and “attempting to threaten by way of hegemonism the HKSAR Government officials who have been discharging their due prosecution role dutifully”. Secretary for Justice Paul Lam, who along with 15 prosecutors was named in the report, said in the statement that he is not concerned about being subjected to possible sanctions, as suggested in the report. The spokesperson added that the SAR’s prosecutorial decisions are made based on evidence, the law, and the prosecution code.In the report, the commission alleged the Department of Justice had “infringed on the universal human rights of a wide range of people”, including protesters, journalists and opposition figures. It added that the US government and the international community should consider taking actions to address what it called “the erosion of the rule of law and human rights”, including applying additional sanctions.

Multiple Chinese News outlets from Taiwan and HK reported that the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party will be held in fall. By then, #XiJinPing will fully take over #CCP. By then, his power over the party can only be compared to Mao Zedong.
The PLA will also be expected to unite China, which also means to take over #Taiwan through military means.
He is expected to stay in position for at least another 10 years.
This means the China crackdown in #HongKong, #Xinjiang, #Uyghur, and recently, #Macau, will at least last for another 10 years if nothing is to be done.

Top court clears man jailed over plastic cable ties
Hong Kong's top court on Friday overturned the conviction of a man who was found carrying zip ties in a backpack in November 2019.Chan Chun-kit was arrested near Victoria Park, where a district council election rally was planned. He was jailed for five and a half months for possessing an instrument fit for unlawful purposes. At the Court of Final Appeal, his lawyers argued that the 48 plastic cable ties Chan was carrying did not fall under the scope of section 17 of the Summary Offences Ordinance under which he was charged. The legislation sets out the offence of "any person who has in his possession any wrist restraint or other instrument or article manufactured for the purpose of physically restraining a person, any handcuffs or thumbcuffs, any offensive weapon, or any crowbar, picklock, skeleton-key or other instrument fit for unlawful purposes, with intent to use the same for any unlawful purpose".The Court of Appeal had earlier agreed with the Department of Justice that a wider, unrestricted interpretation of the legislation should be adopted, saying there needs to be an updated reading. However, the top court said that this would mean almost all articles or instruments are fit for an unlawful purpose, rendering the offence "in reality a thought crime".A five-judge panel ruled that zip ties are not covered by this section of the law, saying they aren't manufactured for the purpose of physically restraining a person, they are plainly not offensive weapons, and they are not instruments fit for gaining unlawful access. The judges, led by Chief Justice Andrew Cheung, unanimously overturned Chan's conviction and sentence.

Govt to do all it can to push patriotic education: CE
Chief Executive John Lee on Saturday said the government will spare no effort in pushing patriotic education, and correcting the wrong values of young people who have been misled.Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of a patriotic education centre founded by the Federation of Education Workers, Lee said some people in the past had colluded with foreign forces and stigmatised national education. He said teenagers are the future of Hong Kong and successors of the One Country, Two Systems enterprise, and their national identity needs to be nurtured from a young age.The leader said the Education Bureau will offer full support to schools in planning and implementing national education, so students will learn Chinese history and values, respect symbols of the country, as well as understand the importance of the Constitution, Basic Law and national security. He also called on the education sector to make good use of the patriotic education centre and share their experience in patriotic education.

British lawyers defending Hong Kong pro-democracy tycoon Jimmy Lai say they have received threats
//Barristers from a British law firm who are representing jailed Hong Kong tycoon and democracy campaigner #JimmyLai said on July 7, 2022 they had received anonymous e-mails warning them against travelling to the city to defend him.
Lai is among the most prominent people in Hong Kong to be charged under a #National SecurityLaw that Beijing imposed in June 2020 to punish terrorism, collusion with foreign forces, subversion and secession with possible life imprisonment.
The barristers - Caoilfhionn Gallagher, Jonathan Price and Jennifer Robinson from Doughty Street Chambers - told Reuters the messages came from a generic Gmail address.
"A person that refuses to abide by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region could be extradited...from other jurisdictions. Foreign nationals will be charged with the offences of subversion," one of the e-mails said. "You have been warned not to attempt entry or land in Chinese territory."
The barristers declined to say if they would be travelling to Hong Kong for the trial.
"Threatening journalists, campaigners and lawyers within Hong Kong has been happening for some time," the barristers said in an e-mail.
"Now these intimidatory tactics are spreading outside the borders of China and Hong Kong."
Police said in a statement they were concerned about the media reports and "strongly condemn the act of impersonating police officers". They appealed to those concerned to provide further information.
The government did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether the barristers would be allowed to enter Hong Kong.
Baroness Helena Kennedy, Director of the International Bar Association's Institute of Fundamental Rights, condemned what she said was an act of intimidation.
"Intimidating the lawyers who act for citizens pursuing freedom and democracy is the tactic of an authoritarian regime," she said.
"Jimmy Lai's right to instruct international lawyers of his choice is fundamental to a fair trial. The Hong Kong authorities seem to have abandoned the values which underpin the rule of law."//

Today, we commemorate Chan Yin Lam, who fought with us and passed away 3 years ago. Although #HKPolice claimed she killed herself, her death was extremely suspicious. Her body was found in the sea, but people knew her said she was a diver and a good swimmer.

China's real estate bubble is starting to collapse. The problem actually started over a decade ago when people started to find ghost town in China. What MSM won't tell you is #CCP's system to encourage local governments to blindly chase GDP and their corruption nature caused this crisis. However, those who suffer the consequences are the people in China, not those #CCP officials that actually created this crisis.
