'I have no shame in my heart': Hong Kong activist Tony Chung pleads guilty to secession and money laundering https://hongkongfp.com/2021/11/03/i-have-no-shame-in-my-heart-hong-kong-activist-tony-chung-pleads-guilty-to-secession-and-money-laundering/
Tony Chung has totally showed how corrupted the #NationalSecurityLaw, the court & #HongKong are as a whole. Not only he is innocent but he was well aware of the #NSL & has stopped protesting since July 1, 2020 to avoid committing the ambiguous law. Meaning, he is now punished to a law that wasn't even existed.

While the judge said that those not following court rules “brought shame to the majority of people in society.”, he should be ashamed of himself for betraying justice, #ruleoflaw, & his dignity.

Those judges who betrayed the #ruleoflaw is finally being recognized. Anyone with the right mind can tell that the judgements these judges make are highly influenced by #CCP. They have put people behind bars only for their political stands. Hundreds of innocent people are in jail because of them.

Tony Chung, former Studentlocalism convenor, was sentenced to 3 years and 7 months for advertising his political ideas & selling T-shirts under #NationalSecurityLaw. His action was also taken before #NSL was imposed on June 30, 2020

Not only did the judge, Stanley Chan, made bizarre statement which sounded more like a thug, but he silenced Chung from making political statement so that he could hide this unfair trial from record. If Stanley Chan truly believed his judgement was justified, why wouldn't he allow Chung from making his statement? He is nothing more than a #CCP puppet who insulted & destroyed the #ruleoflaw.
What's going on with this guy? So even when people not being able to hire their own attorney, trail behind close door, and all those corruption, China still has #ruleoflaw. If that's the case, why not suggest to adopt the legal system from #China to #UK?

Some 35 lawyers linked to protester relief fund being probed by Hong Kong Bar Association – reports https://hongkongfp.com/2022/07/05/some-35-lawyers-linked-to-protester-relief-fund-being-probed-by-hong-kong-bar-association-reports/
After taking control over the bar accociation by threatening other candidates, #CCP is now chasing after lawyers who have helped activists. This has never happened before in #HK. Can anyone still say the #RuleOfLaw exists and remain its independence?

Judge Kwok Wai-kin praised the man who stabbed 3 people 2 years ago noble. Former Chief Justice of the Court, Geoffrey Ma call him risk of compromising impartiality. Kwok's judgement has a reputation to destroy the #ruleoflaw in #HK for years.

#HKGov is using every means to stop #JimmyLai from hiring Timothy Owen's as his attorney. If the government is doing something illegal, they simply don't allow people to hire their own lawyer.

The country's top legislature has passed an interpretation of Hong Kong's national security law, clarifying that the courts need approval from the Chief Executive, or the committee on safeguarding national security, to allow foreign lawyers to take part in national security cases here.

Their intention is only to prevent #JimmyLai from hiring a foreign lawyer.

With the new interpretation, it will put John Lee above the law.

After the court rejected to ban the song “Glory to Hong Kong”, DOJ told the judge to follow the Chief Executive’s order. Maybe Hong Kong should consider not having a court at all.

The alleged action of the national security police bringing Agnes Chow to mainland China raises concerns regarding the legality and resemblance to police practices in China. If true, it would be a violation of due process and the principles of a fair legal system. Such actions undermine the autonomy and rule of law in Hong Kong, eroding the distinctions between the law enforcement practices of Hong Kong and mainland China. This further fuels fears about the erosion of civil liberties and human rights in the region. #AgnesChow #NationalSecurityPolice #HongKong #RuleOfLaw

Concerns rise as Hong Kong implements a new law allowing enforcement of mainland Chinese court rulings, raising fears about erosion of the city's rule of law and judicial independence. Critics worry about the impact on Hong Kong's legal autonomy and international reputation.

The new law allowing enforcement of mainland Chinese court rulings in Hong Kong has negatively impacted the perception of its judicial system. Concerns about eroding judicial independence, diminished autonomy, uncertainty, and human rights issues have raised doubts about the fairness and independence of Hong Kong's judiciary.

May 20: DOJ continued to ignore the video from the attack at Yuen Long station on July 21, 2019, and accuse victims were those who provoke the gangs, which clearly was gathered to attack passengers indiscriminately.

The recent arrests under Hong Kong's national security law serve as a reminder that no one is safe from the reach of Article 23. The apprehensions, including prominent activist Chow Hang-tung, instill fear and raise concerns about freedom of expression and the rule of law. The use of the law to target individuals and suppress dissent has a chilling effect on society. It underscores the need for continued vigilance in protecting fundamental rights and preserving the autonomy of Hong Kong. #Article23 #NationalSecurityLaw #HongKong #FreedomOfExpression #RuleOfLaw
