US to Sanction PRC and HK Officials for Undermining HK Autonomy
The US Treasury has released a press release on Friday, announcing sanctions on eleven individuals for undermining Hong Kong's autonomy and restricting the freedom of expression and assembly of Hong Kongers. The eleven of them consists of officials from the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong.
The Treasury is currently sanctioning Carrie Lam, Chris Tang, Stephen Lo, John Lee Ka-chiu, Teresa Cheng, Erick Tsang, Xia Baolong, Zhang Xiaoming, Luo Huining, Zheng Yanxiong, and Eric Chan.
“The United States stands with the people of Hong Kong and we will use our tools and authorities to target those undermining their autonomy,” said Secretary of the Treasury Steven T. Mnuchin.

The first time since #Tiananmen Massacre in 1989, #EU is set to sanction human rights abusers in #China! Senior #EU officials will start the sanctions which include travel ban and freezing of assets of officials responsible for the human rights atrocities against Uyghurs in #Xinjiang or #East Turkestan. These sanctions will need formal sign-off, we're banking on it to happen. However, we must also take notice that the Netherlands remains the only European country so far with a parliament that voted to formally recognize #CCP's action as genocide. Do keep up, Europe! At the same time, we urge #Canada, whose parliament has declared CCP's action as genocide to sanction #Chinese officials responsible for the torture, rape and murder of thousands of ethnic minorities!
