Ladies and Gentlemen, December is approaching rapidly! For Hongkongers, aside from Christmas, the Winter Solstice holds significant importance in December. In celebration of this traditional festival, characterized by family reunions and shared meals of glutinous rice balls, The Hong Kong Scots in Aberdeen are excited to invite everyone, including locals and the Hong Kong diaspora, to join our Glutinous Rice Ball Workshop. This event aims to not only explore the culinary traditions of the Winter Solstice, featuring glutinous rice balls and dumplings but also foster integration and adaptation of Hong Kongers to life in Scotland. It serves as a platform for cultural exchange, reflecting the rich tapestry of British cultural diversity.

一群流亡的香港人表示，蘇格蘭多個城鎮及城市被中國共產黨操縱，以「擴大其極權統治的影響力」。全球斷絕姊妹城市運動（Global De-twinning）促請世界各地城市結束任何與中國結為姊妹城市的安排。
目前，格拉斯哥與大連為姊妹城市，愛丁堡與深圳及西安有合作協議，而Perth 與海口亦有聯繫。
同時，Angus與煙台有長達數十年的關係。快富（Fife）曾與甘肅在1989年達成協議，但此關係已告失效。
全球斷絕姊妹城市運動指，姊妹城市為「中國共產黨的操縱工具」。一名發言人向星期日先驅報（The Herald on Sunday）表示：「我們留意到若干交流計劃透過姊妹城市協議達成，大部分交流活動與教育及青年相關。此等交流會加強北京的宣傳及協助北京政權散播其侵犯人權的『理據』。」
「根據格拉斯哥與大連的姊妹城市協議，其關係與格拉斯哥體育學院（Glasgow School of Sports）的乒乓球及羽毛球訓練有關。另外，愛丁堡與深圳的姊妹城市協議與大學生交流有關。」
⋯⋯今年較早前，Perth部份市議員嘗試提出與海口脫離姊妹城市關係。
可是，他們的提議被大比數否決。只有10票支持工黨議員 Alasdair Bailey 的動議，而有23票反對。
前Angus Council 發展事務主管 Dave Valentine 指出該等連結對蘇格蘭人有莫大裨益。Dave Valentine 在與煙台建立官方關係上為關鍵人物⋯⋯

The Hong Kong Scots、Scottish Hongkongers 和80多個來自世界各地的香港民間社會和人權組織簽署了一份聯合聲明，敦促政府採取行動，回應在
2023年12月14日宣布的最新一輪《國安法》懸紅通緝令。
聯署組織在聲明中呼籲各國政府採取措施保障流亡海外香港社運人士的權利和自由，尤其是已獲得政治庇護並曾遭受北京威脅的人士。
聯署內容同時譴責港府近日針對和平民主派社運人士，其中包括現居美國的美國公民邵嵐，以及分別離港前往美國和英國的許穎婷和鄭文傑。
各個組織同時「繼續譴責針對羅冠聰、郭榮鏗、許智峯、任建峰、郭鳯儀、劉祖廸、袁弓夷和蒙兆達的打壓」。
聯署組織呼籲英國、美國、加拿大、澳洲、紐西蘭和歐洲聯盟等多國政府重申《國安法》不適用於其司法管轄區，並譴責港府發出懸紅通緝令，強調這些手令在其司法管轄區並無法律效力。
聲明指出：「這是北京自2020年實施《國安法》後的最新升級行動，此法已受到多國政府和多個聯合國委員會譴責。到目前為止，已有260人因《國安法》被捕。
此舉也是跨國鎮壓香港人的最新升級行動，當中無數港人亦曾在不同司法管轄區受到中共及其特工的攻擊和騷擾。」
聯署組織敦促各國政府在2024年1月23日舉行的聯合國普遍定期審議中，向中國提出香港議題相關建議。
我們敦促一眾民主國家政府中止其餘與香港和中國的引渡條約，並致力協調國際刑警組織預警機制，以保護香港人和其他海外異見人士。
上週，香港警方宣布通緝邵嵐、許穎婷、鄭文傑等五名社運人士，並各懸紅100萬港元。其後，香港政府發聲明表示：「任何逃犯都不要妄想潛逃離港就可以逃避刑責。逃犯除非自首，否則會被終身追捕。」

花崗岩城與格拉斯哥湯圓製作工作坊及茶聚 回顧
#花崗岩城 #Aberdeen 與 #格拉斯哥 #Glasgow 湯圓製作工作坊及茶敘，旨在讓參加者有機會了解香港的冬季節日文化，以及自製糯米 湯圓。這是Mission Perm計劃在 Aberdeen舉辦的首次面對面活動⋯⋯使新到埗港人有更多社群參與，讓他們進一步融入社區。兩場活動都有多位蘇格蘭本地非華裔人士參與，活動讓他們了解香港節慶文化。促進香港人和蘇格蘭人之間的文化互動⋯⋯
⋯⋯以上應該係我哋2023年最後嘅實體活動。祝大家冬至平安、#聖誕快樂 同 #新年快樂！
Glutinous Rice Ball Workshops and Tea Parties in Aberdeen & Glasgow, which aimed to offer participants a chance to learn about the Winter festival culture of Hong Kong, and homemade glutinous rice ball. This is the first in-person activity occurring in Aberdeen. In both sessions, there were several native Scots to join and learn about Hong Kong Festival Culture. It enhanced the cultural diversity and interaction between Hongkongers and Scots.
These should be our last physical activities in 2023. We wish you all a safe winter solstice, a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

日前我們與蘇格蘭地方當局（COSLA）進行了深入的討論。會談圍繞目前在蘇格蘭港人面對的挑戰，並探討未來計劃，以使港人更順利融入蘇格蘭生活。
我們討論了香港僑民在各方面的經歷，包括日常生活中的挑戰和未來計劃。此外還探討如何營造互相支持的社群，並理解港人社群的獨特需求。
盼望我們在未來與COSLA密切合作，應對特定的議題，如 #文化適應、#語言支援 和 #社區融合。賦予香港僑民在蘇格蘭中茁壯成長的力量，培養歸屬感。
We recently engaged in discussions with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA). Our meeting centred around addressing the current challenges faced by Hong Kong expatriates in Scotland, aiming to collaborate on overcoming obstacles and shaping future initiatives for a more seamless integration into Scottish life.
We addressed various aspects of the Hong Kong expatriate experience, including challenges in daily life and potential plans. The focus was on fostering a supportive environment and understanding the unique needs of the community.
We will involve working closely with COSLA to develop programs that address specific concerns, such as cultural adaptation, language support, and community integration. initiatives that empower Hong Kong expatriates to thrive in the Scottish community, fostering a sense of belonging.

今年1月26日係香港開埠183周年。1月28日晚，我哋喺愛丁堡舉辦紀念活動，重溫過去百多年來，促成中世貿易、文化交融，細心去睇當中嘅人和事如何影響現今嘅香港人，同場亦會同大家窺探蘇格蘭與香港歷史淵源。
當晚亦會聚餐活動，同大家聚首一堂，相聚同交流，歡迎大家嗰日預備食物同大家一齊分享！
Join us on the evening of January 28th in Edinburgh as we commemorate the 183rd Hong Kong Foundation.
Reflect on the past centuries that shaped the trade and cultural fusion between the East and West. Explore how the people and events of that time continue to influence modern-day Hong Kong. Additionally, delve into the historical ties between Scotland and Hong Kong.
