Next Magazine Condemns Police for Targeting Magazine Photographer

Riot police conducted clearance operation at a legal rally on the first day of New Year, during which reporters of Next Magazine on the scene were targeted for no apparent reason, including a photographer who was shamed, scolded, brutally shoved, kicked and attacked by the police with their riot shields. The photographer fell to the ground, injured and bleeding. His cell phone was aggressively chucked to the ground.

A riot police tried to tie the cordon to the "bushes", which was in fact, the wall of chain store Innisfree. The police accidentally broke the wall. After 5 minutes, his effort was still in vain. He eventually left without setting the cordon.

Foreigners hid in the fridge in an attempt to evade police tear gas attack
On New Year Day, police fired tear gas in downtown district, causing many passersby to choke and fall victim to the pungent gas.
In Causeway Bay, several foreign ladies fled in terror from the police tear gas attack. They ran to a convenience store and attempted to hide inside the fridge. Tear gas went into the store, frightening them even more.
