Innocent Man Charged With Assault Arrested on Second Mensiversary of Prince Edward Station Incident was Released After 3-month Curfew

Crowds of citizens had gathered outside Prince Edward Station during the 2-month-anniversary of 8.31 Incident in December, requesting MTR to release the CCTV records for verification of the number of injuries. Police dispersed the crowds with rounds of tear gas, leading to a series of conflicts.

A 22-year-old man was charged for assault on police officers, in which he was claimed to elbow a police officer. Prosecution withdrew the charge after seeking DOJ's opinion but the defendant had a 3-month curfew executed.

United States Attorney General Releases Statement Condemning the Arrests of Pro-Democracy Activists in Hong Kong

Attorney General William P. Barr issued the following statement:

"I condemn the latest assault on the rule of law and the liberty of the people of Hong Kong.  These events show how antithetical the values of the Chinese Communist Party are to those we share in Western liberal democracies.

These actions — along with its malign influence activity and industrial espionage here in the United States — demonstrate once again that the Chinese Communist Party cannot be trusted."
