Statement from the Citizens' Press Conference
2 Nov 2019
In the face of our basic human rights being eaten away day by day, the gallant people of Hong Kong have shown the world both our resolve and wisdom in our fight for freedom and democracy over the past 4 months. In the meantime, the Hong Kong Police Force has continued to stoop lower in their fall as the CCP’s favourite paramilitary. The world has long learnt not to expect them to honour their duty to defend their people: they are the ultimate violators of all laws and protocols and constitutions, and the executioners of the innocent. The Citizen’s Press Conference, as are all Hong Kongers today, is beyond livid at their frenzy and detests their actions most vigorously.
This afternoon, the Hong Kong Police Force, now known as a ‘Red Paramilitary’ for state suppression, arbitrarily attacked and unlawfully arrested civilians and pro-democracy candidates of the District Council Election with disproportionate force in Victoria Park, violently perturbing electoral rights and freedom under the world’s nose. This ‘Red Paramilitary’ then followed on with their plot and to abruptly and unjustifiably cancel the peaceful assemblies to be held in Chater Garden and Edinburgh Place respectively, forcefully violating the Letters of No Objection originally granted to these two rallies, with the excuse of ‘public order maintenance’. The articles and definitions within the noxious Public Order Ordinance is being infinitely extended by the authorities as if they are at play. The blatant disregard of the Basic Law and the ICCPR is proof that, in their eyes, free speech and the freedom of assembly is but a ghost.
The values of freedom and democracy pursued by the people of Hong Kong should have been birth rights to be enjoyed by all. While Hong Kongers are having to beg for our birth rights and stand in defence against the CCP’s infringement in the name of the free world, we are met with truncheons and guns and live amid military fear every day. We hereby urge the international community to come to your fellow man and women’s aid in Hong Kong on this humanitarian crisis in which we are suffering, and that the US Congress will pass the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act as soon as possible, and do the justice of sanctioning all those who are complicit in violating human rights and even butchering up their people.
Until justice dawns, the Citizens’ Press Conference will stand side by side with Hong Kongers and march on in our fight until glory is unto Hong Kong.

At 20:45, the Special Tactical Squad arrests at least 5 people at Nathan Road. Police try to stop the arrested protestors from telling their names by referring them to "cockraoches" and even yelled "shut up" in their ears.
As police point pepper spray to members of the public who try to hear the arrestees out, onlookers ask the police to keep calm and the police respond, "I won't as you provoke me!"
