Police Cite "Public Order Ordinance" to Enter and Make Arrests on University Campus without a Warrant

Hong Kong Police state that under the "Public Order Ordinance", schools are not a private area.
The police can make arrests without obtaining a warrant from the court. The police reiterate that they would not allow any place to become a safe haven for criminals, and can legally make arrests within schools without a warrant.

At 2000 When Vice-Chancellor Rocky Tuan attempted to negotiate with the HKPF but they resumed firing tear gas canisters at the campus again and caused a second round of clashes. Numerous reporters and first-aider were caught in the tear gas and hit by rubber bullets. The clash at No.2 bridge lasted for an hour and reached a deadlock. Streams of fire, smoke and bullets were flying at the scene.

The crowd gathering in Sai Wai Ho kept growing and there were over a thousand at the scene. The protesters claimed” We cannot let the CUHK students sacrifice themselves in vain, there are many wounded in No.2 Bridge. This is the Hong Kong version of Tiananmen Square, everyone who came out here are with conscience, I hope everyone would not feel helpless and go home. Be a scout if you cannot help on frontline, come and set roadblock if you are strong.”

At 22:49 in Tsuen Wan, protesters burnt nearby trash and set roadblocks. Police fired a few rounds of tear gas but did not charge forward. They left after confronting withe protesters for a while. Meanwhile, protesters shouted to one another “Push forward! How could you face your brothers and sisters in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is at war there!”

Injuries in Chinese University of Hong Kong on Nov 12: Tear gas burnt holes in helmets and set backpack on fire
During the violent clashes at No. 2 Bridge of Chinese University on November 12, the police fired over 3000 rounds of tear gas, rubber and beanbag bullets, and deployed water cannon trucks to disperse the protestors.
Yet lots of students still remained at the bridge today (Nov 13) joined by some citizens. Mr. Chan, aged 23, said a lot of protestors were shot by the blue dye water cannon, by bullets, or scalded and burnt by tear gas canisters yesterday.
Since ambulances could not reach the university, they could only be treated at the sports ground on campus; some were brought to the hospital by good Samaritans. Student Chu, a fifth year student at CUHK, said the injured protestors mostly needed their eyes and wounds cleansed; some were hit by rubber bullets and were treated by Red Cross staff and doctors.
Chu said, the most serious case he saw was a protestor whose helmet has 4 holes burnt by tear gas canisters. The protestor was also injured by rubber bullets, bean bag bullets, and tear gas, and his backpack was also burnt. Fortunately, he had some gear to protect himself. Chu also said, a first aider was hit in the face by a tear gas round while treating others.
