Video Shows the Horror of China's So-Called "Education Camp" in Uyghur

Released on Oct 10, 2020, the video shows a frail Uyghur man 'returning' from what the Chinese Communist Party government called "education camp".

The man was in a condition that he cannot walk on his own and had to be carried by another person. The health of the man is equally worrying.

The original Tweet about the video compares the traumatic scene to Holocaust caused by the #Nazi:

//This is the condition of a #Uyghur man who was lucky enough, unlike millions of others, to be released from #China's brutal #concentrationcamps in Occupied #EastTurkistan. What China is doing in East Turkistan is a 21st Century #Holocaust.//

Trudeau warns Beijing over HK, treatment of Uighurs

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau warned China on Tuesday that its "coercive diplomacy," repressive measures in Hong Kong and detention of Uighur Muslims are counterproductive for itself and the rest of the world.Trudeau took aim at Beijing's record as he marked the 50th anniversary of Canada's diplomatic ties with China."We will remain absolutely committed to working with our allies to ensure that China's approach of coercive diplomacy, its arbitrary detention of two Canadian citizens alongside other citizens of other countries around the world is not viewed as a successful tactic by them," Trudeau said at a press conference. He also mentioned Canada's "concern for the protection of human rights and places like Hong Kong and... with the Uighurs."He said that Canada would "continue to work with our fellow like-minded nations around the world, to impress upon China that its approach to internal affairs and global affairs is not on a particularly productive path for itself or for all of us."Canadian former diplomat Michael Kovrig and businessman Michael Spavor have been held in China for nearly two years and have been charged with spying.Canada's ambassador to China obtained "virtual consular access" to Spavor and Kovrig over the weekend, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said Saturday.Western governments see the detention of the two Canadians as retaliation for Canada's arrest of Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of Chinese telecoms giant Huawei and daughter of its founder.Meng was arrested on a US warrant in December 2018 during a stopover in Vancouver and is charged with bank fraud related to violations of US sanctions against Iran. She has been fighting extradition ever since. (AFP)

China elected to UN Human Rights Council

China has been elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council, but support for Beijing dropped by more than 20 percent compared with a 2016 vote. The 193-member UN General Assembly also elected Russia, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Malawi, Cuba, Bolivia, Uzbekistan, France and Britain to the 47-member council. Senegal, Nepal, Pakistan, Ukraine and Mexico were re-elected for a second three-year term. Council members cannot serve more than two consecutive terms.Candidates are elected by secret ballot in geographical groups to ensure even representation. The Asia-Pacific group, which included Saudi Arabia, was the only competitive race on Tuesday with five candidates vying for four seats. The new members will begin their term on Jan. 1, 2021."Saudi Arabia's failure to win a seat on the Human Rights Council is a welcome reminder of the need for more competition in UN elections. Had there been additional candidates, China, Cuba and Russia might have lost too," said Human Rights Watch UN director Louis Charbonneau. While China was elected with 139 votes, its support fell more than 20 percent compared to the last time it won a seat in 2016.Beijing has been criticised internationally for its human rights records. Most recently China has been condemned by Western countries for its handling of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong and the SAR's national security law, as well as its treatment of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang.US President Donald Trump's administration quit the Human Rights Council in 2018 - half way through its term - over what it called chronic bias against Israel and a lack of reform."The U.N. General Assembly once again elected countries with abhorrent human rights records," US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday. "These elections only further validate the US decision to withdraw and use other venues and opportunities to protect and promote universal human rights." (Reuters)

Xi heralds Shenzhen as 'engine of Greater Bay Area'

President Xi Jinping says Shenzhen will be the "engine" for the development of the Greater Bay Area, and that Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese, should all be encouraged and guided to help with the development of the city and other special economic zones (SEZ). Xi was giving a speech on Wednesday in Shenzhen to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the economic zones. "The Greater Bay Area is a major development strategy of the country. With Shenzhen being an important engine in its development, we should seize the major historical opportunities in the development of the Greater Bay Area, promote the alignment of economic rules, and institutions of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau," he said. "We should also continue to encourage and guide our compatriots in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan as well as overseas Chinese, to play their important roles in investment, entrepreneurship and two-way openness, so that they can make new contribution to the development of the special economic zones," Xi added. He made the remarks amid speculation that Hong Kong will be sidelined as Beijing build Shenzhen into a "model city" in the country's economic reforms. Xi also said the mainland city will be tasked with "enriching the new practice of One Country Two Systems," but he did not elaborate. "Shenzhen will also take the lead to realise socialist modernisation, this is the historical mission of Shenzhen given by the party in a new era," the president said. Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam, as well as her Macau counterpart, Ho Lat-seng, are also present at the ceremony. Lam was seen seated on the stage with about a dozen officials. Lam was originally scheduled to deliver her annual policy address on Wednesday, but she postponed it to a later date, saying she needs more time to ask for mainland authorities' assistance in reviving the SAR's economy.

Luo Hui-ning, The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG): “Patriotism is not a choice.”

(30 Sep)Tomorrow [01 October] is the National Day of China and Mid-Autumn Festival. The National Day Celebration was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre today (30 September) and was attended by multiple Chinese and Hong Kong dignitaries, including Vice-Chairman of The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Tung Chee-hwa, Chief Executive Carrie Lam, Director of LOCPG Luo Hui-ning, Director of the National Security Agency (NSA) Cheng Yan-hung and others. Luo stated that Hong Kong people’s national identity must be strengthened and emphasized that there is only room for “Two Systems” if “One Country” is preserved.

Luo mentioned that the National Security Law put an end to “the turmoil of rampant independence in Hong Kong and black violence [referring to the ‘violence’ from black-clad demonstrators]”, and that national security education needs to be strengthened in the future, especially on civil servants and youngsters.

He also said that Chinese patriotism is not a choice, but an obligation and a righteousness, and called for a "firm defence" and "firm footing" on major issues of right and wrong so that Hong Kong could break through the vortex of over-politicization and free itself from violence and phoenixism [ie. mutual destruction].

Carrie Lam expressed her gratitude to the Central Government for their assistance in the fight against the epidemic. She also added that the Central Government’s support made the enactment of the National Security Law of Hong Kong which is crucial given the severe blow to the economy and society stemming from the Anti-ELAB movement and violence of last year.

"Not a Bad Thing to Keep Outstanding Talents in China," said Hu Xijin after the US Immigration Ban towards CCP Members

On Oct. 2, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued policy guidance, that makes immigration application inadmissible to anyone who is, or has been a member of Communist Party or any other totalitarian party. Hu Xijin, the Chief Editor of Global Times, a tabloid backed by CCP, posted on Twitter that the decision of the U.S. has "taken out" the illusion of many people as most of the Chinese outstanding talents are CCP members. "Not bad", he wrote. He added that the interests of non-CCP members on immigrating to the U.S. had a significant decrease nowadays.

The U.S. was only reiterating the policy, that Chapter 3 of the original Policy Manual already have the immigration requirements and the corresponding procedures for the totalitarian party members. According to the Policy Manual, if totalitarian party members would like to immigrate, they have to prove themselves that they are the exceptions and waivers with evidence, and they do not pose a threat to the national safety in the US.

"Japan would Adopt a Solid Strategy Against China," from the PLA Analysis.

Japanese media reported, according to a Chinese military analysis, the new Japanese government would like to establish maritime alliances with the United States and other countries and will take a tougher stance against China.

According to Kyodo News, the Chinese military experts released an analysis report at an internal PLA meeting in late September. The report said that the Yoshihide Suga administration, which took office in mid-September, would like to establish maritime alliances with the United States and other countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

The report also stated the Chinese military believes that Yoshihide Suga would continue the policy of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The report said Suga government was currently exploring the possibility of possessing attack capabilities against enemy bases, which implied that Japan's long-standing "exclusively defensive" national defence policy would change. China should treat this as a "new issue" and make preparations. It does not rule out the possibility that China will accelerate the strengthening of its armaments.
