Myanmar Demonstrators Burnt Chinese Factories; The Military Attacked “Protest Camp” and Killed 11 People
More than two months since the coup in Myanmar, according to the statistics of the local organisation assisting political prisoners, the death toll has reached at least 581. A Chinse factory in Yangon was burnt by the protesters today (7th April) while some protesters raised the slogans of boycott Chinese brands “Xiaomi” and “Huawei”. The military also attacked Hpruso Township in Kayah (Karenni) State, a “Tarhan protest camp” occupied by protesters, making 11 people died.
According to Reuters, some protesters raised the slogans with boycott Chinese brands in Yangon and burnt the flag of China to protest that China has been friendly to the military government who initiated the coup. Because of that, the protesters burnt 32 Chinese factories in Yangon last month, and today they burnt a Chinese clothing factory called JOC.

Food delivery giant Meituan faces anti-trust probe
Regulators have launched an anti-trust probe into Meituan, one of China's biggest food delivery firms, they said on Monday, as Beijing clips the wings of its soaring tech companies. The probe was prompted by reports that Meituan allegedly engaged in forced exclusivity agreements with vendors, the State Administration for Market Regulation said in a statement. Those were among its "suspected monopolistic behaviours", the regulator said.E-commerce titan Alibaba was hit by a record 18.2 billion yuan (US$2.78 billion) fine this month after facing a similar charge. The woes of Meituan, which counts gaming giant Tencent as a shareholder, is the latest sign that China's assault on big tech is far from over.Beijing has taken the mainland's tech firms to task in order to curtail the reach of private companies into the public's daily finances and – analysts believe – to rein in their runaway expansion as well as the status of their super-rich founders. Two weeks ago the regulator warned 34 technology giants – including Baidu, Tencent and Meituan – to "rectify" any anti-competitive measures, prompting a series of public pledges to abide by anti-monopoly guidelines.Regulators told internet companies to "heed the warning of Alibaba's case".Alibaba too had come under fire for forcing the practice of "choosing one of two" on retailers – where merchants are compelled to work only with one platform and not its rivals.Companies such as e-commerce platform JD.com have since pledged to avoid such behaviour.Alibaba and JD.com, along with messaging and gaming giant Tencent, have become hugely profitable on the back of growing Chinese digital lifestyles and government restrictions on major US competitors in the domestic market. But as the platforms amassed hundreds of millions of regular users, concern has risen over their influence in China, where they are used for a huge array of daily tasks.Fintech firm Ant Group, an Alibaba affiliate whose planned record-shattering US$35 billion Hong Kong-Shanghai IPO was shelved late last year, also announced this month it would comply with an overhaul outlined by regulators and become a financial holding company – meaning it will be supervised more like a bank in the future. China’s Solar Dominance Presents Biden With an Ugly Dilemma
President Biden has repeatedly pledged to work with China on issues like climate change while challenging Beijing on human rights and unfair trade practices.
But those goals are now coming into conflict in the global solar sector, presenting the Biden administration with a tough choice as it looks to expand the use of solar power domestically to reduce the United States’ carbon dioxide emissions.
The dilemma stems from an uncomfortable reality: China dominates the global supply chain for solar power, producing the vast majority of the materials and parts for solar panels that the United States relies on for clean energy. And there is emerging evidence that some of China’s biggest solar companies have worked with the Chinese government to absorb minority workers in the far western region of Xinjiang, programs often seen as a red flag for potential forced labor and human rights abuses.

A young son, who fled communist #China in 2012, is exposing the persecution of his 58-year-old dad who has been severely tortured for his #faith.
Eric Jia was just 11 years old when he last saw his dad, Ye Jia, imprisoned in a jail in China. Ye has been unlawfully detained several times in the past two decades for his faith in the values of “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance,” the three core teachings of #FalunGong. Even his grandma and an elderly aunt have been persecuted.
His father was locked to a bunk bed and handcuffed for more than 12 hours a day. Due to the torture, he lost weight, suffered from hemoptysis, black sputum, and liver pain. “He was locked in a small room for 6 years ... He was only allowed to go out when there was a ‘yearly reporting time,’ which happened only twice a year."

Tiger attacks farm worker, damages car
Villagers in China's far northeast were left terrified when a Siberian tiger pounced on a field worker and attacked a car near the remote border with Russia, state media reported. The male juvenile tiger was first spotted Friday roaming close to Linhu village in Heilongjiang province, reported Shanghai-based news outlet The Paper, citing local police."It turned in the direction of two villagers working in the field," said Wang Xue, who had driven to the site to pick up a relative."I shouted at them to run, but the tiger then ran straight in my direction," Wang was quoted as saying by the Beijing News in a Sunday video."In two or three seconds, it ran over and pounced on my car, clawing at it with its paws."The car's exterior was heavily scratched and the back passenger window shattered."I was terrified, and am still suffering from heart issues," said Wang.Neither of the two passengers inside the car was hurt.Video footage also showed the tiger pouncing on one villager working in the field, before running off. The report said the worker suffered minor injuries.Police managed to eventually corner and subdue the animal with tranquiliser darts.According to a Monday report published by the Heilongjiang Forestry Bureau, the big cat was put into a 45-day disease quarantine at the Hengdaohezi Feline Breeding Centre in Mudanjiang city.Siberian tigers are native to Russia and parts of northeastern China. There are estimated to be fewer than 500 left in the wild due to poaching, with fewer than 30 thought to be in China, according to the state newspaper Global Times.Conservationists in China and Russia have made efforts to protect the species, but it is rare for tigers to enter human settlements.
