WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told top Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi in a phone call on Friday the United States will stand up for human rights and democratic values in Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong, the State Department said.
Blinken also pressed China to condemn the military coup in Myanmar, and he reaffirmed that Washington will work with allies to hold China accountable for efforts to threaten stability of Indo-Pacific, including across the Taiwan Strait, the department said in a statement.

One Year Since the Death of #Covid19 #Whistleblower Dr. Li Wenliang in China
One year ago on Feb 6, 2020, Dr. Li Wenliang, an ophthalmologist in Wuhan, died of the coronavirus in China.
At the first epicenter of the coronavirus in China, he revealed news of the outbreak of #WuhanPneumonia on Chinese social media platform as early as on December 30, 2019. He was later arrested by the Chinese Communist Party government for "publishing false statements."
On February 1, 2020, he announced himself having contracted the coronavirus. The news of his death was covered up and announced only later by the Chinese authorities, in order to control the emotion of the population.
While the #CCP accused Dr.Li of being a "rumour monger" when he was alive, the Chinese authorities chaged their narrative and praised him after his death.

#Olympic is always a political event. Countries often hold Olympic to create opportunities to boost their economy and promote their cultures & patriotism. It is extremely hypocritical for Internation Olympic Committee (IOC) to "avoid getting in politics". Since letting China to host an Olympic is letting them to promote their totalitarian nazism.

New U.S. Secretary of State Blinken: Rejects Beijing's Claim to Sovereignty in the South China Sea, Joins Southeast Asia to Counter China
On his first day in office, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken says he rejects China's claim to sovereignty over the South China Sea and stresses that the United States will stand up for Southeast Asian countries if conflict breaks out in the South China Sea. He also said his judgment that China is genocidal against the Uighurs remains unchanged, but that the United States and China can still work together on mutual concern issues, such as climate change.
The U.S. Senate approved Blinken's nomination to be secretary of state on Tuesday. On his appointment, Blinken told staff in his State Department office that he would mend U.S. relations with allies and prove to the world that the United States is capable of leading.
The U.S. will stand with Southeast Asia to counteract CCP pressure
The State Department issued a statement stating that Blinken called Philippine Foreign Minister Teodoro Locsin after taking office, affirming U.S.' rejection of China's claims of sovereignty and maritime rights in the South China Sea. He also said China's claims went beyond the scope of their rights under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
