Chinese, US presidents expected to talk soon: Biden

The leaders of China and the United States could be holding another round of talks later this month.US President Joe Biden said he expected to speak with President Xi Jinping sometime in the next 10 days.If confirmed, that would be their first discussions in four months.Biden sidestepped a reporter's question about what he might have to say to Xi about tariffs. “I’d tell him to have a good day," Biden responded. The White House is completing a review of the US tariff policy and making recommendations to the president. The tariffs imposed under former US president Donald Trump applied a 25 percent duty on billions of dollars of Chinese products.Biden also appeared to cast doubt on a trip reportedly planned by US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan next month. "I think that the military thinks it's not a good idea right now, but I don't know what the status of it is," he said.Beijing has said any such visit by Pelosi would seriously undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Tuesday China is firmly against any official exchange between the United States and Taiwan. (Agencies)

Ride-hailing giant Didi hit with 8 bn yuan fine

China's cybersecurity regulator said on Thursday it has fined Didi Global 8.026 billion yuan, after a year-long probe found that the ride hailing giant had violated laws, including ones pertaining to data security.Didi had illegally collected several pieces of user information over a seven-year period starting from June 2015, and also carried out data processing activities that seriously affected national security, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said in statements. The company's founder and Chief Executive Cheng Wei and President Jean Liu were also fined 1 million yuan each, the CAC said."Didi's violations of laws and regulations are serious, and should be severely punished," it said. The fine amounts to more than four percent of Didi’s total revenue last year. "We sincerely accept this decision [and will] resolutely obey it," Didi said in a statement on social media. "We sincerely thank the competent authorities for their inspection and guidance... We will take this as a warning... [and] further strengthen the construction of network security and data security." (Agencies)

Indonesia President Joko Widodo to visit China

Indonesian President Joko Widodo will visit China from July 25-26, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Thursday, becoming the first foreign leader in two years to be received individually by Beijing aside from February's Winter Olympics.Widodo has received an invitation from President Xi Jinping for the trip, Wang Wenbin said at a regular media briefing.Wang said Widodo would hold meetings with Xi and with Premier Li Keqiang for an exchange of in-depth views.Indonesia currently holds the G20 presidency and will host this year's summit of G20 leaders in Bali in mid-November."When the Indonesian President visits China, he can communicate face-to-face with the Chinese leadership," Wang said.Aside from the Winter Olympics, Beijing has not hosted any foreign leaders individually since border measures were put in place in 2020 following the outbreak of Covid-19. Mainstream news won’t cover the run on banks in China. Depositors at provincial banks in Henan were promised high yield returns. They trusted their money was safe at the BANK. The banks then froze their assets, refused withdrawals, and military tanks have been called to stop the people from getting their money. Some individuals lost as much as $250,000–their life savings. If your ears need to be tickled, I’m sorry I’m not very funny today. This is going to be a global phenomenon. What financial signs are you seeing in your countries? Stay safe! Pastor Steve
