Wang Yi tells US to stop interfering in Winter Games
China is demanding the United States end “interference” in the Beijing Winter Olympics, which begin next month, in an apparent reference to a diplomatic boycott imposed by Washington and its allies. The Foreign Ministry in Beijing said Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the demand in a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The US has said it will not send dignitaries to the Games, which begin on February 4. The boycott does not prevent US athletes from taking part in the Games.According to a news release posted on the ministry’s website on Thursday, Wang also called for an end to US support for Taiwan.Wang also complained that the US hasn't altered tough political and economic policies toward China under the administration of President Joe Biden, despite its expressed wishes for a less confrontational relationship. The phone call follows the appointment of veteran diplomat Nicholas Burns as the new US ambassador to China, a position that had remained empty for a year. (AP)

Covid cases fall in Beijing, but rise at Games
Beijing has limited the movement of people in more parts of the capital, even as it reported fewer Covid-19 cases on Thursday, in a bid to lower virus risk just over a week before the opening of the 2022 Winter Olympics.Beijing's Fengtai district said late on Wednesday residents in more areas should not leave their residential compounds for unnecessary reasons and must have a daily Covid test. The district, which has reported more local virus cases than other districts in the current outbreak in Beijing, had already locked down some residential compounds, impacting tens of thousands of people.Beijing has not locked down any districts, but several now have mobility restrictions in place in certain areas.Beijing reported five locally transmitted infections with confirmed symptoms for Wednesday, down from 14 a day earlier, according to data from the National Health Commission (NHC) on Thursday.Although the caseload is low compared to outbreaks globally, Beijing spares no effort in complying with a national guideline of extinguishing virus flare-ups as soon as possible. The strategy takes on extra urgency as China has vowed to safely host the Winter Games and prevent major outbreaks during the Lunar New Year travel season.Twenty-three new cases of Covid-19 were detected among Beijing 2022 games-related personnel on Wednesday, including eight found among those already in the Olympic closed-loop bubble, organisers said on Thursday. The eastern financial hub of Shanghai found the Omicron variant in a locally transmitted case detected on Monday, state television said on Thursday. At least eight provinces, regions and municipalities in China have found locally transmitted Omicron infections, while the total number of cases remained unclear.Nationwide, China reported a total of 25 domestically spread cases with confirmed symptoms for January 26. WeChat is NOT safe - this is another example.
WeChat is owned by Tencent, a company that is known to carry out CCP's censorship and surveillance.
Even as early as 2016, the University of Toronto’s Citizen Lab has issued a report on how Tencent helped the CCP monitor content. Other examples include: Tencent-owned games promoting "One China" ideology, censoring LGBT+ content, and complying with China's "anti-gaming-addiction" policies, blocking COVID news... etc.
So, are you still using WeChat?
