This letter was written earlier this year, as #VentusLau, along with 46 other pro-democracy politicians and activists, were arrested and swiftly taken to court on the "national security" charges of "subversion", simply because they organized and participated in the primary elections ahead of the 2020 Legislative Council election. Even as the #CCP attempted to crush their dignity and resolve by subjecting them to a marathon trial which lasted 4 days, Lau could not forget his domestic duties of taking care of his cats! The prosecution is clearly trying to drag out the judicial process as much as possible to exert maximum mental strain on #HongKong’s pro-democracy politicians charged under #nationalsecuritylaw. Whether they even have enough evidence to form a case is questionable, but the defendants are effectively in political prison before a verdict!
