The Alberta Sovereignty "within a United Canada" Act.
Adding layers of beaurocracy and removing options from Alberta.
All because of Federal legislation that is not in effect until 2035 - while at the same time committing Alberta to meeting the same insanity it proposes by 2050 anyway.
With the Sovereignty Act
Danielle Smith triggers the Act which triggers a vote to decide if the Cabinet should be authorized to tell her Ministers to not co-operate with the Feds. If they are taken to court, Alberta is bound by the decision of the Supreme Court no matter what because of the Act.
Without the Sovereignty Act
Danielle Smith tells her Ministers to not co-operate with the Feds with no debate or permission. It was the basic right of the Premier and the Province to do this anyway (and was used previously multiple times in multiple Provinces). If they are taken to court, Alberta can decide to ignore the decision of the Supreme Court and deal with the fall out as it happens.
And we never have to commit to WEF suggestions regarding this.
