3 students are under investigation by South Korean police after they were caught flying a drone towards the Naval Operations Command in Busan.
They were attempting to photograph the USS Theodore Roosevelt while it was docked in the harbor.
The students claim they were motivated by curiosity rather than attempting to gather intelligence.
They face up to 3 years in prison or a $21,700 fine if found guilty.
