LeaveHomeSafe app still a choice: official

The Secretary for Innovation and Technology revealed on Saturday that 400,000 people have downloaded the government's "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile app, more than a month since its launch. While dismissing claims that the low number of users reflected public distrust of the government, Alfred Sit also did not rule out making the use of the app mandatory. The app helps people record their movements, by scanning QR codes when they enter a building. Speaking to reporters after attending an RTHK programme, Alfred Sit also played down the need to make the app compulsory, for now. "Whether to make it mandatory or not depends on the development of the epidemic," he said. "[When it comes to] how many people use this LeaveHomeSafe app, the question of whether the people trust the government or not does not exist," he stressed, "but more importantly the Hong Kong government has a responsibility to provide choices for people. During the show, Sit also revealed his bureau is studying with researchers on how to improve the app so that users will not have to scan QR codes to record their whereabouts. He said they are looking into installing sensors to detect individuals' whereabouts and on public transport through using bluetooth technology. The minister also said the government is preparing a system for people to register for coronavirus vaccinations. Sit said the government is also trying to set up a centralised digital system to keep vaccination records, so that people provide their phone number and other personal information to get their second Covid jab. He added that his bureau is aiming to be able to send messages to remind people of their inoculation schedules. The official said the systems should be ready next month.

All residential buildings in Jinzhou, China, are being sealed off today disturbing footage has revealed.
#CCP claims the pandemic is under control. However, they are sealing residential buildings. People within the buildings are often lack of support and are not notified until they are blocked inside. That was what happened in #Wuhan.

#Facebook has been shadow censoring our page. Our page views has been significantly dropped from over 100k views to under 1k views each post. Some local groups and pages in #HK are banned. We are not complaining because we are lacking of attention, but it is obvious that Facebook is helping #CCP to silence #HKers and anything that's opposing #CCPChina. They are helping a tyranny which has already become a threat in their own country instead of supporting democracy. We hope that you can follow us or other activist groups on #MeWe & #Gab to keep our voice heard.
I wish that our MeWe and Gab account will have more followers than Facebook and #Twitter. Then, we will close those accounts at once.

After Tiannanmen Square Massacre on June 4th, 1989 (#8964), #USA ignored 10k deaths and choose to engage with #CCP.

Political advisors such as Henry Kissinger made up theories saying that #CCPChina will become civilized after they are developed. This engagement policy has now proved to be a totally failure. It has made #China into the 2nd biggest economy & the biggest tyranny.

If you look back in history, which dictators were willing to give up their power while they were prosperous at the same time? In some ways, what happened in #HK is an extention of the June 4th incident. #HongKongers were forced to face the consequences of the misjudgement of the political leaders over 30 years ago.

In hindsight, it is absurd that so many people actually believed that the engagement policy would make sense.
10 of the #12HKYouths will be under closed trials today. At the moment, Consulate general of US offers mediate. However, there's no detail on how it is done.
Rumors has been spread about #XiJingPing wants to show a strong bully type political stand while #US election is still unsettle. It's obvious that he also believes he can bully his way out if #Biden becomes the #POTUS.

Citizen journalist detained over Wuhan reporting 'restrained and fed by tube'

Zhang Zhan, a citizen journalist and 37-year-old former lawyer, has been on a hunger strike at a detention facility near Shanghai. Zhang was arrested in May and accused of “picking quarrels and stirring up trouble”, an accusation frequently used against critics and activists inside China, after reporting on social media and streaming accounts.

Zhang has been detained for more than six months after reporting on the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak. Last month she was formally indicted on charges of spreading false information.

Zhang was previously detained on similar accusations by Chinese authorities in 2018, and again in 2019 for voicing support for Hong Kong activists. She denies the charge of falsifying information, telling her lawyer that all the information was gathered firsthand through interviews with Wuhan residents.
