Both Fr. Hesse and Fr. Milch, Tridentine Romanist Priests whom I regularly consulted, taught me to search the Scriptures and the Fathers. Both of them assured that it is very probable that the majority of Popes are in Hell, and that Papolatry is heresy and antichrist, only the individual Christian being, ultimately, guided by God and Grace better than through any Pope, for which reason deep knowledge of the Scriptures and Fathers and a life of daily Prayer and Christian Love are absolutely expedient. They also specifically stated that Rome's apostasy is owing to their separation from Orthodoxy, which led to ceaseless avalanches of innovations. Yet this is clearly the inevitable consequence.
