🇷🇺🇱🇻 Commentary of the Russian Embassy in Latvia:
"On August 19, 2022, a solemn reburial of the remains of valiant Soviet commanders Major General S.P.Kupriyanov, Colonel S.G.Gazeev and Colonel G.K.Sharikalov who gave their lives for the liberation of Latvia from the Nazi invaders during the Krustpils offensive in August 1944 was held at the fraternal military cemetery in the city of Jekabpils.
The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Latvia Mikhail V. Vanin, employees of the Russian Embassy, representatives of the Jekabpils city council, veterans’ and public organizations, as well as our fellow countrymen and the mass media.
Addressing the audience, Mikhail V. Vanin elaborated on the war story of the defenders of the Fatherland, thanked the event’s organizers for having prepared and carried it out at a proper level, called on those present to observe a minute of silence in honour of the military commanders.
After the funeral prayer, the ceremony participants laid wreaths and flowers at the burial place."
