AUKUS Devised to Counter China - US Adviser
Kurt Campbell, the National Security Council Coordinator for the Indo-Pacific, has spilled the beans during a regional conference:
“And so those who critique or criticize this effort, I think, have to ask themselves the question - what at the core has driven this effort forward? It is both a clear anxiety about what we've seen in terms of certain actions and policies on the part of China.”
The AUKUS pact was announced on September 15. Under its provisions, the US and the UK will help Australia acquire nuclear-powered submarines.
